Emerging intercultural identity in the Turkish EFL context

The paper argues that for individuals to develop intercultural identity, they do not necessarily need to experience intercultural experiences. A questionnaire devised by the author is administered to 227 Turkish learners of English aged 19-23. The findings of self-reported responses to a 37-item questionnaire as well as the qualitative data reveal that learners feel they have a slightly different identity and that English is an asset, a passport to a world of new experiences in socialization and cross-cultural communication. Study area Samsun/Atakum province is almost under threat of flooding in each year. In this region, the main reason of devastating flood is the influence of the Degirmen stream especially during March, April, and July and due to seasonal rainfall, which eventually makes the district vulnerable to flooding. Geographical Features and Seroprevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi in Erzincan, Turkey

Background: We aimed to determine the geographical features and seroprevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi in Erzincan, Turkey, which has a high tick population due to its geographical position and climatic conditions. Methods: From January to December 2014, 368 people living in Erzincan, northeastern Turkey were enrolled. B. burgdorferi IgG antibodies were investigated in the collected serum samples using the ELISA method in 2015. Positive and borderline results were confirmed using the Western Blot (WB) method.
