Elliptic flow of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at mid-rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The elliptic flow of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.7) is measured in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The particle azimuthal distribution with respect to the reaction plane can be parametrized with a Fourier expansion, where the second coefficient (v2) represents the elliptic flow. The v2 coefficient of inclusive electrons is measured in three centrality classes (0–10%, 10–20% and 20–40%) with the event plane and the scalar product methods in the transverse momentum (pT) intervals 0.5–13GeV/c and 0.5–8GeV/c, respectively. After su ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of D-meson production versus multiplicity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Abstract: The measurement of prompt D-meson production as a function of multiplic- ity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC is re- ported. D0, D+ and D∗+ mesons are reconstructed via their hadronic decay channels in the centre-of-mass rapidity range −0.96 < ycms < 0.04 and transverse momentum interval 1 < pT < 24 GeV/c. The multiplicity dependence of D-meson production is examined by either comparing yields in p–Pb collisions in different event classes, selected based on the multiplicity of produced particles or zero-degree energy, with those in pp collisions ...Daha fazlası

Genotyping of Staphylococcus Aureus Strains Isolated From Bovine Mastitis in Turkey by Using ERIC-PCR Method.

ARSLAN, Emine | GÜLBAHÇE MUTLU, Elif

Mastitis is an intramammary infection that leads to important economic losses in dairy industry such as increasing the amount of waste milk by affecting the quality and quantity of the milk, removing cows from herd or sending them for slaughter early. Staphylococcus aureus has an important place in the fight against mastitis. In this study, it is aimed to genotyping of the 98 S. aureus isolates that were isolated from bovine mastitis by the polymerase chain reaction of enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC-PCR). ERIC primers generated DNA products in sizes ranging between ~8000 ...Daha fazlası

Event-shape engineering for inclusive spectra and elliptic flow in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on results obtained with the event-shape engineering technique applied to Pb-Pb collisions at sNN = 2.76 TeV. By selecting events in the same centrality interval, but with very different average flow, different initial-state conditions can be studied. We find the effect of the event-shape selection on the elliptic flow coefficient v2 to be almost independent of transverse momentum pT, which is as expected if this effect is attributable to fluctuations in the initial geometry of the system. Charged-hadron, -pion, -kaon, and -proton transverse momentum distributions are found to be har ...Daha fazlası

Improved license plate detection using HOG-based features and genetic algorithm

MUHAMMAD, Jawad | ALTUN, Halis

In this paper, a new improved plate detection method which uses genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed. GA randomly scans an input image using a fixed detection window repeatedly, until a region with the highest evaluation score is obtained. The performance of the genetic algorithm is evaluated based on the area coverage of pixels in an input image. It was found that the GA can cover up to 90% of the input image in just less than an average of 50 iterations using 30×130 detection window size, with 20 population members per iteration. Furthermore, the algorithm was tested on a database that contain ...Daha fazlası

A Hybrid Method for Rating Prediction Using Linked Data Features and Text Reviews

YUMUŞAK, Semih | MUÑOZ, Emir | MİNERVİNİ, Pasquale | DOĞDU, Erdoğan | KODAZ, Halife

This paper describes our entry for the Linked Data Mining Challenge 2016, which poses the problem of classifying music albums as 'good' or 'bad' by mining Linked Data. The original labels are assigned according to aggregated critic scores published by the Metacritic website. To this end, the challenge provides datasets that contain the DBpedia reference for music albums. Our approach benefits from Linked Data (LD) and free text to extract meaningful features that help distinguishing between these two classes of music albums. Thus, our features can be summarized as follows: (1) direct object LD ...Daha fazlası

Study Gas Flow Heating In Micro-Nozzle Through Walls Instead Of Preheating

HAMEED, Amar Hasan

Previously, Preheating has been established in micro-nozzles to increase the specific impulse of thrusters and increase thrust level. However, heating may cause higher viscous losses in micro-nozzles working at low Reynolds numbers. In this work, heating is combined with gas expansion by using heated walls for convergent-divergent micro-nozzle. The flow in 2D micro-nozzle with heat generation inside the side-walls has been numerically simulated and analyzed. A wide range of low Reynolds numbers flow is tested to investigate the effect of flow parameters. A range of diverse amounts of heat flux ...Daha fazlası

A Correlation Improvement Technique for Model Updating of Structures

ALTUNEL, Fatih | ÇELİK, Mehmet | ÇALIŞKAN, Mahmut

This study proposes a new correlation improvement technique for the optimum node removal location to get improved modal assurance criterion (MAC) matrix. The technique is applied to updating of the finite element model (FEM) of a structure. The developed routine is tried on a utility helicopter. It is proven that it is capable of showing better performance than the coordinate MAC (coMAC), commonly used in such analyses. Commercial software is utilized for the finite element analysis of the helicopter fuselage and tail. Experimental modal analyses are also performed for updating the model for t ...Daha fazlası

Pseudorapidity and transverse-momentum distributions of charged particles in proton–proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The pseudorapidity (η) and transverse-momentum (pT) distributions of charged particles produced in proton–proton collisions are measured at the centre-of-mass energy √s = 13 TeV. The pseudorapidity distribution in |η| < 1.8 is reported for inelastic events and for events with at least one charged particle in |η| < 1. The pseudorapidity density of charged particles produced in the pseudorapidity region |η| < 0.5 is 5.31 ± 0.18 and 6.46 ± 0.19 for the two event classes, respectively. The transverse-momentum distribution of charged particles is measured in the range 0.15 < pT < 20 GeV/c and |η| < ...Daha fazlası

A New Method For Extraction Of Image's Features: Complex Discrete Ripplet-II Transform

YAŞAR, Hüseyin | CEYLAN, Murat

Wavelet transform extracts the features of a signal and image via shifting and weighting methods. This transform has either advantages or disadvantages on image processing applications. One of important disadvantage of wavelet transform is limited orientation problem. This problem has been solved by different orientation with ridgelet transform. Ripplet-II transform is defined by recently generalising of the ridgelet transform by adding parameter degree (d). Complex discrete form of ripplet-II transform defined by this study and added to the literature. Also, complex discrete Ripplet-II transf ...Daha fazlası

Effect of Cooling Intensity and Position on Solidification in Semi-Continuous Casting of Copper

HAMEED, Amar Hasan | MOHAMMED, Ahmed Abdullah | FADHIL, Obaid

Cooling heat flux effect in both primary and secondary cooling zone has been studied in semi-continuous casting of copper billet. Sufficient cooling is essential to reduce casting defects and to get high productivity, however low rate of solidification is aimed in order to get coarser grain size and softer metal for less losses in extrusion. A three-dimensional numerical model has been developed including solidification behavior of copper through mushy zone. At steady state and constant casting speed, solid shell thickness is monitored during the reduction of cooling rate at mould region to av ...Daha fazlası
