A design of experiment approach of cattle slaughterhouse wastewater treatment by electrocoagulation method

ERYÜRÜK, Kağan | ERYÜRÜK, Şule | TEZCAN ÜN, Ümran | BAKIR ÖĞÜTVEREN, Ülker

The aim of this work was to formulate an empirical model using the data of the electrochemical treatment of cattle slaughterhouse wastewater. The empirical model was developed using response surface methodology with optimal design considering an irregular process space. As operational factors, current density, influent pH, flow rate, supporting electrolyte (NaCl or Na2SO4) concentrations, and H2O2 concentrations were examined. Under these circumstances, the aim was to represent the optimal region shown generally as a surface by obtaining the lowest possible value of chemical oxygen demand (COD ...Daha fazlası

Factors Affecting Adherence to Antiretroviral Treatment among HIV/AIDS Patients in Turkey

KARAKOÇ, Hanife Nur | KAYA, Selçuk | AYDIN TERZİOĞLU, Merve | KÖKSAL, İftihar

Introduction: Adherence to antiretroviral treatment (ART) is critical for the success of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection treatment. There is no approved consensus that defines adherence. In this study, it was aimed to examine the adherence rate of our patients with high-efficacy ART and to determine the factors affecting treatment adherence. Materials and Methods: Seventy-two patients admitted to the study between January 1, 2018 and July 31, 2018 with the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS who received ART for at least three months and agreed to participate in the study were included in the s ...Daha fazlası

Effect of New Sulfonyl Hydrazone Compounds Against Candida Biofilms

AYDIN TERZİOĞLU, Merve | ÖZTÜRK, Ali | DURAN, Tuğçe | ÖZDEMİR ÖZMEN, Ümmühan | ŞUMLU, Esra

Objectives: Candidiasis is the most frequently encountered fungal infection, with ranges from mild superficial infections to disseminated candidiasis. Most manifestations of Candidiasis are associated with biofilm formation. Candida biofilms contributes to therapeutic failure due to resistance to antimicrobial agents and causes an increase in mortality rates. For these reasons, finding new drugs and antimicrobial agents are urgently needed. Sulfonyl hydrazones derived from sulfonamide, are well-known for its pharmacological effects, such as antifungal, antibacterial potential activity. This st ...Daha fazlası

Rehabilitation strategies and neurological consequences in patients with COVID-19: part I

KILINÇ, Buse

Background: The 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has triggered a devastating effect worldwide. In addition to cardiovascular, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal deconditioning, reports of neurological consequences (e.g. stroke, critical illness polyneuropathy, myopathy, vertigo, headaches, facial palsy, and delirium) are growing increasingly common. Objectives: Part I of this review of rehabilitation strategies and neurological consequences in patients with COVID-19 sought to consider potential rehabilitation strategies for managing the emerging neurological consequences of COVID ...Daha fazlası

Hypoxia induced factor-1a levels in patients undergoing adenoidectomy

YÜCEL, Kamile | AYDIN, İsa | ERDEM, Said Sami

Among the most common causes of nasal congestion in childhood is adenoid hypertrophy (AH) which leads to hypoxia. In this study, we studied plasma concentrations of hypoxia induced factor-1α (HIF-1α) in children undergoing adenoidectomy. The study included a total of 86 participants: 39 patients with AH and 47 healthy individuals. Serum HIF-1α levels (ng/mL) were measured by ELISA. HIF-1α concentrations were compared to the adenoid-nasopharyngeal ratio (ANR) of patients with AH, as recorded in the medical records. We found significantly higher concentrations of HIF-1α (0.30 ± 0.47 ng/mL) in pa ...Daha fazlası

Asprosin and Effects on Glucose Metabolism

KESER, Muteber Gizem | ÜNÜSAN, Nurhan

Adipokines secreted from adipose tissue, are bioactive substances and have kinds of functions on appetite, energy, lipid, carbohydrate metabolism, regulation of blood pressure, inflammation, etc. One of the adipokines is asprosin discovered in 2016, is secreted by white adipose tissue. This is released during fasting and found in circulating nanomolar levels. Asprosin is encoded by two exons of the gene FBN1 and is known for its effects on many metabolic processes, especially glucose metabolism, and is still under investigation. This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between aspr ...Daha fazlası

Time and volume-ratio effect on reusable polybenzoxazole nanofiber oil sorption capacity investigated via machine learning

OFLAZ, Kamil | OFLAZ, Zarina | ÖZAYTEKİN, İlkay | BASTUGAN, Rabia

Diesel oil sorption capacities (DOSCs) of polybenzoxazole/polyvinylidenefluoride nanofiber mats with four different groups (-O-, -S-S-, phenylene anddiphenylene) in the main chain structures were investigated. Different experi-mental duration and diesel-oil/tap-water volume ratio pairs were used for dieseloil sorption. No degradation was observed in the nanofiber mat structures afterdiesel oil sorption. The characterizations of polybenzoxazole (PBO) nanofiberswith high diesel oil selectivity were performed by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spec ...Daha fazlası
