Subtype distribution and molecular characterization of Blastocystis from hemodialysis patients in Turkey.

GÜLHAN, Barış | AYDIN TERZİOĞLU, Merve | DEMİRKAZIK, Mehtap | KOLTAŞ, İsmail Soner | ÇIKMAN, Aytekin | TÜRKMEN, Kültigin | DURAN, Tuğçe

Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the Blastocystis prevalence and subtypes in hemodialysis patients in Turkey. Methodology: Eighty-four patients diagnosed with end-stage renal failure who were undergoing hemodialysis and 20 healthy volunteers were enrolled. Blastocystis presence was investigated by native-Lugol, trichrome staining, PCR using STS primers, and DNA sequencing analysis. Results: Among the stool samples from the hemodialysis patients, 9.52% (8/84) were found to be Blastocystis-positive with the native-Lugol and trichrome staining. Seven of the eight Blastocystis ...Daha fazlası

Non-linear flow modes of identified particles in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The pT-differential non-linear flow modes, v4,22, v5,32, v6,33 and v6,222 for π ±, K±, K0 S , p + p, Λ + Λ and φ-meson have been measured for the first time at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV in Pb-Pb collisions with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results were obtained with a multi-particle technique, correlating the identified hadrons with reference charged particles from a different pseudorapidity region. These non-linear observables probe the contribution from the second and third order initial spatial anisotropy coefficients to higher flow harmonics. All the characteristic features ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of Λ(1520) production in pp collisions at √ s = 7 TeV and p–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of the Λ(1520) baryonic resonance has been measured at midrapidity in inelastic pp collisions at √ s = 7 TeV and in p–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV for non-single diffractive events and in multiplicity classes. The resonance is reconstructed through its hadronic decay channel Λ(1520) → pK− and the charge conjugate with the ALICE detector. The integrated yields and mean transverse momenta are calculated from the measured transverse momentum distributions in pp and p–Pb collisions. The mean transverse momenta follow mass ordering as previously observed for other hyperons in th ...Daha fazlası

The Relationship of Emotional Intelligence and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy in Mothers in the Early Postpartum Period

KARAKOÇ, Hediye | MUCUK, Özlem | ÖZKAN, Hava

Introduction: Women have widespread breastfeeding problems in postpartum period. Emotional intelligence (EI) is thought to be important in problem-solving related to breastfeeding. Research Aims: The study was conducted to investigate the correlation between the EI and breastfeeding selfefficacy (BFSE) of women in the early postpartum period and the associated factors. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in cesarean-postpartum service of a hospital in Erzurum between May 2015 and May 2016. The sample of the study consisted of 271 women. The dependent variables constitu ...Daha fazlası

Three spirals: Breastfeeding problems, growth spurts, and postpartum depression

ONAT, Güliz | KARAKOÇ, Hediye

Purpose: The inadequacy experienced in maintaining breastfeeding was tried to be understood within the framework of Meleis' theory, and its relationship with growth spurts and postpartum depression was attempted to be revealed. Design and Methods: The study was planned in a case‐control type web‐based descriptive research design. Mothers (n = 572), who thought that they experienced breastfeeding problems, constituted the case group of the study, and mothers (n = 524), who thought that they did not experience breastfeeding problems, constituted the control group. Findings: A statistically signi ...Daha fazlası

Developing English as a Foreign Language Skills Through Multiplayer Online Computer Games

ALTINBAŞ, Mehmet Emre | SAVAŞ, Perihan

The aim of the present study was to investigate the outcomes of using multiplayer online computer games for the development of English as a foreign language (EFL) skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). For this purpose, the study employed a repeated measures design. The study was conducted with 13 multiplayer online gamer EFL learners studying at a private university in Turkey. The data were collected through the analysis of the English proficiency levels of the participants via two sample Cambridge Preliminary English Tests before and after a gaming period in which the participants p ...Daha fazlası

J/ψ elliptic and triangular flow in Pb–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) mesons has been measured in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. K∗0 and φ are reconstructed via their decay into charged hadrons with the ALICE detector in the rapidity range −0.5 < y < 0. The transverse momentum spectra, measured as a function of the multiplicity, have a pT range from 0 to 15 GeV/c for K∗0 and from 0.3 to 21 GeV/c for φ. Integrated yields, mean transverse momenta and particle ratios are reported and compared with results in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV and Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. In Pb–Pb and p–Pb collisions, K∗0 and φ probe ...Daha fazlası
