Υ suppression at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Inclusive Υ(1S) and Υ(2S) production have been measured in Pb–Pb collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon pair √sNN = 5.02 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The Υ mesons are reconstructed in the centre-of-mass rapidity interval 2.5 < y < 4 and in the transverse- momentum range pT < 15 GeV/c, via their decays to muon pairs. In this Letter, we present results on the inclusive Υ(1S) nuclear modification factor RAA as a function of collision centrality, transverse momentum and rapidity. The Υ(1S) and Υ(2S) RAA, integrated over the centrality range 0–90%, are 0.37± 0 ...Daha fazlası

φ meson production at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

φ meson measurements provide insight into strangeness production, which is one of the key observables for the hot medium formed in high-energy heavy-ion colli- sions. ALICE measured φ production through its decay in muon pairs in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV in the intermediate transverse momentum range 2 < pT < 5 GeV/c and in the rapidity interval 2.5 < y < 4. The φ yield was measured as a function of the transverse momen- tum and collision centrality. The nuclear modification factor was obtained as a function of the average number of par- ticipating nucleons. Results were compared wit ...Daha fazlası

Inclusive heavy-flavour production at central and forward rapidity in Xe–Xe collisions at √sNN = 5.44 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The first measurements of the production of muons and electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays in Xe–Xe collisions at √sNN = 5.44 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the LHC, are reported. The measurement of the nuclear modification factor RAA is performed as a function of transverse momentum pT in several centrality classes at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) and midrapidity (|y| < 0.8) for muons and electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays, respectively. A suppression by a factor up to about 2.5 compared to the binary-scaled pp reference is observed in central collisions at both central and f ...Daha fazlası

Production of pions, kaons, (anti-)protons and φ mesons in Xe–Xe collisions at √sNN = 5.44 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The first measurement of the production of pions, kaons, (anti-)protons and ϕ mesons at midrapidity in Xe-Xe collisions at sNN‾‾‾‾√=5.44 TeV is presented. Transverse momentum (pT) spectra and pT-integrated yields are extracted in several centrality intervals bridging from p-Pb to mid-central Pb-Pb collisions in terms of final-state multiplicity. The study of Xe-Xe and Pb-Pb collisions allows systems at similar charged-particle multiplicities but with different initial geometrical eccentricities to be investigated. A detailed comparison of the spectral shapes in the two systems reveals an oppos ...Daha fazlası

Constraining the Chiral Magnetic Effect with charge-dependent azimuthal correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN = 2.76 and 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Systematic studies of charge-dependent two- and three-particle correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 and 5.02 TeV used to probe the Chiral Magnetic Effect (CME) are presented. These measurements are performed for charged particles in the pseudorapidity (η) and transverse momentum (pT) ranges |η| < 0.8 and 0.2 < pT < 5 GeV/c. A significant charge-dependent signal that becomes more pronounced for peripheral collisions is reported for the CME-sensitive correlators γ1,1 = hcos(ϕα + ϕβ − 2Ψ2)i and γ1,−3 = hcos(ϕα − 3ϕβ + 2Ψ2)i. The results are used to estimate the contribution of backgro ...Daha fazlası

Charged-particle multiplicity fluctuations in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Abstract Measurements of event-by-event fluctuations of charged-particle multiplicities in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV using the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are presented in the pseudo- rapidity range |η| < 0.8 and transverse momentum 0.2 < pT < 2.0 GeV/c. The amplitude of the fluctuations is expressed in terms of the variance normalized by the mean of the multiplicity distribution. The η and pT dependences of the fluctuations and their evolution with respect to collision centrality are investigated. The multiplicity fluctuations tend to decrease from periphe ...Daha fazlası

Multiharmonic Correlations of Different Flow Amplitudes in Pb-Pb Collisions at √ s NN = 2.76     TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The event-by-event correlations between three flow amplitudes are measured for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, using higher-order symmetric cumulants. We find that different three-harmonic correlations develop during the collective evolution of the medium when compared to correlations that exist in the initial state. These new results cannot be interpreted in terms of previous lower-order flow measurements since contributions from two-harmonic correlations are explicitly removed in the new observables. A comparison to Monte Carlo simulations provides new and independent constraints for the ...Daha fazlası

Jet fragmentation transverse momentum distributions in pp and p-Pb collisions at √s, √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Jet fragmentation transverse momentum (jT) distributions are measured in proton-proton (pp) and proton-lead (p-Pb) collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. Jets are reconstructed with the ALICE tracking detectors and electromagnetic calorimeter using the anti-kT algorithm with resolution parameter R = 0.4 in the pseudorapidity range |η| < 0.25. The jT values are calculated for charged particles inside a fixed cone with a radius R = 0.4 around the reconstructed jet axis. The measured jT distributions are compared with a variety of parton-shower models. Herwig and Pythi ...Daha fazlası
