Selenium Content of Turkish Foods: A Twenty-Year Review

Selenium is a nutritionally essential trace element majorly obtained from food. The bioavailability of selenium to the food chain depends on soil organic-matter content, pH, and selenium speciation, presence of ions that complex with selenium and food-processing. Emerging intercultural identity in the Turkish EFL context

The paper argues that for individuals to develop intercultural identity, they do not necessarily need to experience intercultural experiences. A questionnaire devised by the author is administered to 227 Turkish learners of English aged 19-23. The findings of self-reported responses to a 37-item questionnaire as well as the qualitative data reveal that learners feel they have a slightly different identity and that English is an asset, a passport to a world of new experiences in socialization and cross-cultural communication. Electrochemical polymerization of a new alkoxy-bridged dithieno (3,2-B:2’,3’-D) pyrrole derivative

A novel alkoxy-bridged dithieno (3, 2-B:2’,3’-D) pyrrole (DTP) derivative was synthesized and its corresponding polymer poly(1,2-bis(2-(4H-dithieno[3,2-b:2’,3’-d]pyrrol-4-yl)ethoxy)ethane) (P(DTP-alkoxy-DTP)) was successfully obtained electrochemically. The e ﬀ ects of alkoxy bridge in the structure on the electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of the polymer were also investigated in detail. The results showed that the polymer ﬁ lm exhibits multielectrochromic behavior and a low band gap of 1.82 eV.

Direct photon elliptic flow in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

The elliptic flow of inclusive and direct photons was measured at mid-rapidity in two centrality classes 0–20% and 20–40% in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV by ALICE. Photons were detected with the highly segmented electromagnetic calorimeter PHOS and via conversions in the detector material with the e+e− pairs reconstructed in the central tracking system. The results of the two methods were combined and the direct-photon elliptic flow was extracted in the transverse momentum range 0.9 < pT < 6.2 GeV/c.
