Elliptic flow of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at mid-rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The elliptic flow of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.7) is measured in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The particle azimuthal distribution with respect to the reaction plane can be parametrized with a Fourier expansion, where the second coefficient (v2) represents the elliptic flow. The v2 coefficient of inclusive electrons is measured in three centrality classes (0–10%, 10–20% and 20–40%) with the event plane and the scalar product methods in the transverse momentum (pT) intervals 0.5–13GeV/c and 0.5–8GeV/c, respectively. Measurement of D-meson production versus multiplicity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Abstract: The measurement of prompt D-meson production as a function of multiplic- ity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC is re- ported. D0, D+ and D∗+ mesons are reconstructed via their hadronic decay channels in the centre-of-mass rapidity range −0.96 < ycms < 0.04 and transverse momentum interval 1 < pT < 24 GeV/c. The multiplicity dependence of D-meson production is examined by either comparing yields in p–Pb collisions in different event classes, selected based on the multiplicity of produced particles or zero-degree energy, with those in pp collisions ...Daha fazlası

Determination of the event collision time with the ALICE detector at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Particle identification is an important feature of the ALICE detector at the LHC. In particular, for particle identification via the time-of-flight technique, the precise determination of the event collision time represents an important ingredient of the quality of the measurement. In this paper, the different methods used for such a measurement in ALICE by means of the T0 and the TOF detectors are reviewed. Efficiencies, resolution and the improvement of the particle identification separation power of the methods used are presented for the different LHC colliding systems (pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb) ...Daha fazlası

p-p, p-lambda, and lambda-lambda correlations studied via femtoscopy in pp reactions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on the first femtoscopic measurement of baryon pairs, such as p-p, p-, and , measured by ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in proton-proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV. This study demonstrates the feasibility of such measurements in pp collisions at ultrarelativistic energies. The femtoscopy method is employed to constrain the hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interactions, which are still rather poorly understood. A new method to evaluate the influence of residual correlations induced by the decays of resonances and experimental impurities is hereby presented. The p-p, p-, and ...Daha fazlası

One-dimensional pion, kaon, and proton femtoscopy in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The size of the particle emission region in high-energy collisions can be deduced using the femtoscopic correlations of particle pairs at low relative momentum. Such correlations arise due to quantum statistics and Coulomb and strong final state interactions. In this paper, results are presented from femtoscopic analyses of π±π±, K±K±, KS0KS0, pp, and pp correlations from Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. One-dimensional radii of the system are extracted from correlation functions in terms of the invariant momentum difference of the pair. The comparison of ...Daha fazlası

Measuring K0K± interactions using Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76STeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first ever measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the K0 and K± particles. The analysis was performed on the data from Pb–Pb collisions at sNN = 2.76 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength parameters for K0 K− are found to be equal within the experimental uncertainties to those for K0 K+ . Comparing the S S results of the present study with those from published identical-kaon femtoscopic studie ...Daha fazlası

Measuring K0S K± interactions using pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the K0 and K± particles in pp √S collisions at s = 7 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding solely via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength parameters for K0SK− are found to be equal within the experimental uncertainties to those for K0K+. Results of the present study are compared with those S√ from identical-kaon femtoscopic studies also performed with pp collisions at s = 7 TeV by ALICE a ...Daha fazlası

Two-pion femtoscopy in p-Pb collisions at √sN N = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the results of the femtoscopic analysis of pairs of identical pions measured in p-Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV. Femtoscopic radii are determined as a function of event multiplicity and pair momentum in three spatial dimensions. As in the pp collision system, the analysis is complicated by the presence of sizable background correlation structures in addition to the femtoscopic signal. The radii increase with event multiplicity and decrease with pair transverse momentum. When taken at comparable multiplicity, the radii measured in p-Pb collisions, at high multiplicity and low pair t ...Daha fazlası

Charged jet cross section and fragmentation in proton-proton collisions pffiffi at s=7TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Azimuthally-differential femtoscopic measurements, being sensitive to spatio-temporal characteristics of the source as well as to the collective velocity fields at freeze out, provide very important information on the nature and dynamics of the system evolution. While the HBT radii oscillations relative to the second harmonic event plane measured recently reflect mostly the spatial geometry of the source, model studies have shown that the HBT radii oscillations relative to the third harmonic event plane are predominantly defined by the velocity fields. In this Letter, we present the first resu ...Daha fazlası

Systematic studies of correlations between different order flow harmonics in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The correlations between event-by-event fluctuations of anisotropic flow harmonic amplitudes have been measured in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results are reported in terms of multiparticle correlation observables dubbed symmetric cumulants. These observables are robust against biases originating from nonflow effects. The centrality dependence of correlations between the higher order harmonics (the quadrangular v4 and pentagonal v5 flow) and the lower order harmonics (the elliptic v2 and triangular v3 flow) is presented. The tra ...Daha fazlası

Flow Dominance and Factorization of Transverse Momentum Correlations in Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first measurement of the two-particle transverse momentum differential correlation function, P2 ≡ h∆pT∆pTi/hpTi 2 , in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. Results for P2 are reported as a function of relative pseudorapidity (∆η) and azimuthal angle (∆ϕ) between two particles for different collision centralities. The ∆φ dependence is found to be largely independent of ∆η for |∆η| ≥ 0.9. In 5% most central Pb–Pb collisions, the two-particle transverse momentum correlation function exhibits a clear double-hump structure around ∆ϕ = π (i.e., on the away side), which is not observed ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of Upsilon(1S) Elliptic Flow at Forward Rapidity in Pb-Pb Collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The first measurement of the Υð1SÞ elliptic flow coefficient (v2) is performed at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN 1⁄4 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The results are obtained with the scalar product method and are reported as a function of transverse momentum (pT ) up to 15 GeV=c in the 5%–60% centrality interval. The measured Upsilon is consistent with 0 and with the small positive values predicted by transport models within uncertainties. The v2 coefficient in 2 < pT < 15 GeV=c is lower than that of inclusive J=ψ mesons in the same pT interval by 2.6 st ...Daha fazlası
