Energy dependence of forward-rapidity J/ψ and ψ(2S) production in pp collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Abstract We present results on transverse momentum (pt) and rapidity (y) differential production cross sections, mean transverse momentum and mean transverse momen- tum square of inclusive J/ψ and ψ(2S) at forward rapid- ity (2.5 < y < 4) as well as ψ(2S)-to-J/ψ cross section ratios. These quantities are measured in pp collisions at cen- ter of mass energies √s = 5.02 and 13 TeV with the ALICE detector. Both charmonium states are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel, using the muon spectrometer. A com- prehensive comparison to inclusive charmonium cross sec- tions measured at √s = 2.76, 7 ...Daha fazlası

J/ψ Elliptic Flow in Pb-Pb Collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report a precise measurement of the J=ψ elliptic flow in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN 1⁄4 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The J=ψ mesons are reconstructed at midrapidity (jyj < 0.9) in the dielectron decay channel and at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4.0) in the dimuon channel, both down to zero transverse momentum. At forward rapidity, the elliptic flow v2 of the J=ψ is studied as a function of the transverse momentum and centrality. A positive v2 is observed in the transverse momentum range 2 < pT < 8 GeV=c in the three centrality classes studied and confirms with higher statistics ...Daha fazlası

K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) meson production at high transverse momentum in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) mesons in proton-proton (pp) and lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV has been analyzed using a high luminosity data sample accumulated in 2011 with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Transverse momentum (pT) spectra have been measured for K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) mesons via their hadronic decay channels for pT up to 20 GeV/c. The measurements in pp collisions have been compared to model calculations and used to determine the nuclear modification factor and particle ratios. The K∗(892)0/K ratio exhibits significant reduction fro ...Daha fazlası

φ-Meson production at forward rapidity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV and in pp collisions at √s = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The first study of φ-meson production in p–Pb collisions at forward and backward rapidity, at a nucleon– nucleon centre-of-mass energy √sNN = 5.02 TeV, has been performed with the ALICE apparatus at the LHC. The φ-mesons have been identified in the dimuon decay channel in the transverse momentum (pT) range 1 < pT < 7 GeV/c, both in the p-going (2.03 < y < 3.53) and the Pb-going (−4.46 < y < −2.96) directions — where y stands for the rapidity in the nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass — the integrated luminosity amounting to 5.01 ± 0.19 nb−1 and 5.81 ± 0.20 nb−1, respectively, for the two data sam- ...Daha fazlası

Azimuthally differential pion femtoscopy in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first azimuthally differential measurements of the pion source size relative to the second harmonic event plane in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon pair of sNN 1⁄4 2.76 TeV. The measurements have been performed in the centrality range 0%–50% and for pion pair transverse momenta 0.2 < kT < 0.7 GeV=c. We find that the Rside and Rout radii, which characterize the pion source size in the directions perpendicular and parallel to the pion transverse momentum, oscillate out of phase, similar to what was observed at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The ...Daha fazlası

Production of 4He and 4He in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Results on the production of 4He and 4He nuclei in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV in the rapidity range | y |< 1, using the ALICE detector, are presented in this paper. The rapidity densities corresponding to 0–10% central events are found to be dN /dy4 He = (0.8 ± 0.4 (stat) ± 0.3 (syst)) × 10−6 and dN /dy4 He = (1.1 ± 0.4 (stat) ± 0.2 (syst)) × 10−6, respectively. This is in agreement with the statistical thermal model expectation assuming the same chemical freeze-out temperature (Tchem = 156 MeV) as for light hadrons. The measured ratio of 4He/4He is 1.4 ± 0.8 (stat) ± 0.5 (syst).

Centrality dependence of the pseudorapidity density distribution for charged particles in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the charged-particle pseudorapidity density in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV in centrality classes measured by ALICE. The measurement covers a wide pseudorapidity range from −3.5 to 5, which is sufficient for reliable estimates of the total number of charged particles produced in the collisions. For the most central (0–5%) collisions we find 21400±1300, while for the most peripheral (80–90%) we find 230 ± 38. This corresponds to an increase of (27 ± 4)% over the results at √sNN = 2.76 TeV previously reported by ALICE. The energy dependence of the total number of charged partic ...Daha fazlası

Measurements of low-pT electrons from semileptonic heavy-flavour hadron decays at mid-rapidity in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at √s NN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Transverse-momentum (pT) differential yields of electrons from semileptonic heavy-flavour hadron decays have been measured in the most central (0–10%) and in semi- central (20–40%) Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76TeV. The corresponding production cross section in pp collisions has been measured at the same energy with substantially reduced systematic uncertainties with respect to previously published results. The modifi- cation of the yield in Pb–Pb collisions with respect to the expectation from an incoherent superposition of nucleon-nucleon collisions is quantified at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.8) ...Daha fazlası

The transverse momentum distributions of the strange and double-strange hyperon resonances ( Sigma ( 1385)(+/-), Xi ( 1530)(0)) produced in p-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV were measured in the rapidity range -0.5 < yCMS < 0 for event classes corresponding to different charged-particle multiplicity densities, < dN(ch)/d eta(lab)> . The mean transverse momentumvalues are presented as a function of < dNch/d eta(lab)>, as well as a function of the particle masses and compared with previous results on hyperon production. The integrated yield ratios of excited to ground- state hyperons are ...Daha fazlası

Recent resonance results measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC

YALÇIN, Serpil | KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Resonances are extremely short lived particles (τ ∼ 10-23 s). Due to their lifetime, they may decay, re-scatter and regenerate between chemical and kinetic freeze-outs. For this reason, they are very significant probes to understand the evolution of the medium and particle production mechanism in heavy ion collisions. Different than other particles, resonance properties such as mass, width and yield can be modified by the medium created in the relativistic collisions. Moreover, comparison of resonances produced in different collisions provide evidences about possible in medium effects and syst ...Daha fazlası
