W and Z boson production in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The W and Z boson production was measured via the muonic decay chan- nel in proton-lead collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider with the ALICE detector. The measurement covers backward (−4.46 < ycms < −2.96) and for- ward (2.03 < ycms < 3.53) rapidity regions, corresponding to Pb-going and p-going direc- tions, respectively. The Z-boson production cross section, with dimuon invariant mass of 60 < mμμ < 120GeV/c2 and muon transverse momentum (pμT) larger than 20GeV/c, is measured. The production cross section and charge asymmetry of muons from W-boson decays with pμT > 10 GeV ...Daha fazlası

Alfabenin Çağdaş Türk Sanatında yeri

PAPAĞAN, Şerife Betül | DELİDUMAN, Canan

Abstract: Writing is a written expression language formed since the existence of the history of humanity and has an ideographic meaning. It has always continued its development to communicate with each other and convey events and situations easily. With the invention of writing, different expression techniques and formats have emerged. Each community has its own narrative technique and writing style. Societies have been exposed to several acculturations due to living a nomadic life. Thanks to the writing and language structure that is unique to societies, every society has been affected by thi ...Daha fazlası

Modeling comorbidity of chronic diseases using coupled hidden Markov model with bivariate discrete copula

OFLAZ, Zarina | YOZGATLIGİL, Ceylan | KESTEL, Sevtap

A range of chronic diseases have a significant influence on each other and share common risk factors. Comorbidity, which shows the existence of two or more diseases interacting or triggering each other, is an important measure for actuarial valuations. The main proposal of the study is to model parallel interacting processes describing two or more chronic diseases by a combination of hidden Markov theory and copula function. This study introduces a coupled hidden Markov model with the bivariate discrete copula function in the hidden process. To estimate the parameters of the model and deal wit ...Daha fazlası

Charm-quark fragmentation fractions and production cross section at midrapidity in pp collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Recent pT-integrated cross section measurements of the ground-state charm mesons and baryons, D0, D+, D+s, Λ+c, and Ξ0c, are used to evaluate the charm fragmentation fractions and production cross section per unit of rapidity at midrapidity (|y|

Aggregate Claim Estimation Using Bivariate Hidden Markov Model

OFLAZ, Zarina | YOZGATLIGİL, Ceylan | SELÇUK KESTEL, Ayşe Sevtap

In this paper, we propose an approach for modeling claim dependence, with the assumption that the claim numbers and the aggregate claim amounts are mutually and serially dependent through an underlying hidden state and can be characterized by a hidden finite state Markov chain using bivariate Hidden Markov Model (BHMM). We construct three different BHMMs, namely Poisson–Normal HMM, Poisson–Gamma HMM, and Negative Binomial–Gamma HMM, stemming from the most commonly used distributions in insurance studies. Expectation Maximization algorithm is implemented and for the maximization of the state-de ...Daha fazlası

Structural Break, Nonlinearity and the Hysteresis hypothesis: Evidence from new unit root tests

OFLAZ, Zarina

We have checked whether there exists hysteresis hypothesis in 25 OECD countries covering the period from September, 1983 to September,2013 by using the unit root test which includes nonlinearity and structural break in their testing process. In particular, LNV test proposed by Leybourne, Newbold and Vougas (1998), EG test developed by Enders and Granger (1998), the nonlinear KSS unit root test of Kapetanios et al., (2003), Sollis’ (2009) test, combined KSS-LNV test developed by Omay and Yildirim (2014), combined LNV-Sollis test by Omay et al (2017), modified unit root test with Fractional Freq ...Daha fazlası

Gömülü Teori Araştırması Sosyal İçerme Modeli Konya Tatlıcak Mahallesi Örneği

USTABAŞI GÜNDÜZ, Dilara | GENÇ, Yusuf

Liberal ekonomi politikalarının hâkim olduğu günümüz dünyasında zenginlik ve yoksulluk arasındaki mesafe giderek artmaktadır. Kaynakların paylaşımındaki adaletsizlik, birey ve ailelerin kendilerini gerçekleştirme imkânını ellerinden alarak toplumsal yaşama katılımlarını sınırlamakta ve onları sosyal sorunlarıyla yaşamaya maruz bırakmaktadır. Çoğu zaman aynı mekânı paylaşsalar dahi refah hizmetlerinden herkes gibi yararlanamamaları, sosyal haklarını kullanamamaları, toplumsal yaşama katılamamaları sosyal dışlanmalarına sebep olmaktadır. The evolution of the near-side peak in two-particle number and transverse momentum correlations in Pb-Pb collisions from ALICE

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Two-particle number and transverse momentum correlations are powerful tools for studying the medium produced in heavy-ion collisions. Correlations in the angular separation of pairs of hadrons can provide information on the medium transport characteristics. In particular, the transverse momentum correlations are sensitive to momentum currents, and provide information about the system life time, the shear viscosity over entropy density ratio (eta/s) and the system relaxation time (tau(pi)). Furthermore, the interaction of the jets produced in the initial stages of a collision can be studied usi ...Daha fazlası

Exploring jet profiles in Pb-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

In this contribution, we present measurements of inclusive jet production with the ALICE detector in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV. Production cross sections of charged particle jets and fully reconstructed jets are measured with jet resolution parameters R = 0.2 and 0.3. To quantify the medium induced parton energy loss, jet nuclear modification factors (R-AA) are measured by utilizing POWHEG+Pythia8 predictions as reference cross section in pp collisions. We also calculate the ratio of jet production cross sections for jets reconstructed with different cone radii to explore the j ...Daha fazlası

Erratum to: Insight into particle production mechanisms via angular correlations of identified particles in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We have identified a mistake in how Fig. 1 is referenced in the text of the article Eur. Phys. J. C 77 (2017) no. 8, 569 which affected three paragraphs of the results section. The corrected three paragraphs as well as the unmodified accompanying figure are reproduced in this document with the correct labeling. In addition, an editing issue led to a missing acknowledgements section. The missing section is reproduced at the end of this document in the manner in which it should have appeared in the published article.

Light (anti-)nuclei production and elliptic flow at the LHC with ALICE

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Results on the production of stable light nuclei, including deuterons, He-3, He-4 and the corresponding anti-nuclei, in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV and root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV are presented and compared with theoretical predictions and with the results in small systems to provide insight into the production mechanisms of (anti-)nuclei at colliders. The experimental results are presented giving a critical view of their comparison to the expectations from coalescence and hydrodynamic models that aim at describing both the p(T)-spectra and the elliptic flow.
