Stochastic Polynomial Chaos Expansion Analysis of a Split-Ring Resonator at Terahertz Frequencies

AÇIKGÖZ, Hulusi | MITTRA, Raj

Polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) technique is applied to a conducting array of split-ring resonator to study the effect of the uncertainties of its design parameters on its reflectance at terahertz frequencies. The uniformly distributed random input design parameters have been considered. The first (average) and second (standard deviation) moments are estimated using the PCE. Strong variation of the output response caused by the uncertainties of the design parameters has been noticed. A sensitivity analysis has been carried out to assess the influence of each input parameters on the reflectanc ...Daha fazlası

Randomized prospective comparison of long-term results of onlay and sublay mesh repair techniques for incisional hernia

SEVİNÇ, Barış | OKUŞ, Ahmet | AY, Serden | AKSOY, Nergis | KARAHAN, Ömer

Objective: Incisional hernia is a significant problem after laparotomy, and there is still no consensus on an ideal treatment method. The aim of this study was to compare the results of onlay and sublay mesh repair techniques. Material and Methods: In this randomized prospective trial, 100 patients were divided into two groups: Onlay and sublay groups. Recurrences were evaluated by performing a physical examination. Results: The median follow-up was 37.1 (26.6 to 46.5) months. In the onlay group, the mean operation time was significantly shorter. However, in terms of postoperative pain and wou ...Daha fazlası

φ meson production at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

φ meson measurements provide insight into strangeness production, which is one of the key observables for the hot medium formed in high-energy heavy-ion colli- sions. ALICE measured φ production through its decay in muon pairs in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV in the intermediate transverse momentum range 2 < pT < 5 GeV/c and in the rapidity interval 2.5 < y < 4. The φ yield was measured as a function of the transverse momen- tum and collision centrality. The nuclear modification factor was obtained as a function of the average number of par- ticipating nucleons. Results were compared wit ...Daha fazlası

Inclusive J/ψ production at forward and backward rapidity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 8.16 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Inclusive J/ψ production is studied in p-Pb interactions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon collision sNN−−−√=8.16 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The J/ψ meson is reconstructed, via its decay to a muon pair, in the centre-of-mass rapidity intervals 2.03< ycms< 3.53 and −4.46< ycms< −2.96, where positive and negative ycms refer to the p-going and Pb-going direction, respectively. The transverse momentum coverage is pT< 20 GeV/c. In this paper, ycms- and pT-differential cross sections for inclusive J/ψ production are presented, and the corresponding nuclear modificati ...Daha fazlası

Statistical electromagnetics for antennas

AÇIKGÖZ, Hulusi | ARYA, Ravi Kumar | WIART, Joe | MITTRA, Raj

After a brief introduction, this chapter discusses the state of the art of variable antennas and previous works on these antennas are reviewed. This is followed by an introduction to the most common statistical analysis techniques used for the purpose of the uncertainty propagation. The application of the statistical method to some real case structures is then considered; split ring resonator (SRR) and wearable antennas.

Multi-level optimization of an automotive closed-loop supply chain network with interactive fuzzy programming approaches

YILDIZBAŞI, Abdullah | ÇALIK, Ahmet | PAKSOY, Turan | ZANJİRANİ FARAHANİ, Reza | WEBER, Gerhard Wilhelm

Closed-Loop Supply Chain (CLSC) management has attained appreciable attention over the last few years. CLSC management allows companies to manage their recovery and recycling activities of end products. Due to the latest developments in the world, producers are responsible for the collection, refurbishing, repairing and disassembly of end products at the end of their lives. This paper develops a mixed-integer CLSC model that is inspired by the automotive industry. In this model, we consider three Decision Makers (DM): Plant, Dismantler Center and Customer. Each DM has individual objectives and ...Daha fazlası

Aggregate Claim Estimation Using Bivariate Hidden Markov Model

OFLAZ, Zarina | YOZGATLIGİL, Ceylan | SELÇUK KESTEL, Ayşe Sevtap

In this paper, we propose an approach for modeling claim dependence, with the assumption that the claim numbers and the aggregate claim amounts are mutually and serially dependent through an underlying hidden state and can be characterized by a hidden finite state Markov chain using bivariate Hidden Markov Model (BHMM). We construct three different BHMMs, namely Poisson–Normal HMM, Poisson–Gamma HMM, and Negative Binomial–Gamma HMM, stemming from the most commonly used distributions in insurance studies. Expectation Maximization algorithm is implemented and for the maximization of the state-de ...Daha fazlası
