Freezing Range, Melt Quality, and Hot Tearing in Al-Si Alloys

In this study, three different aluminum-silicon alloys (A356, A413, and A380) that have different solidification morphology and solidification ranges were examined with an aim to evaluate the hot tearing susceptibility. T-shape mold and Constrained Rod Casting (CRC) mold were used for the characterization. Reduced Pressure Test (RPT) was used to quantify the casting quality by measuring bifilm index. J/ψ elliptic and triangular flow in Pb–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV

The production of K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) mesons has been measured in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. K∗0 and φ are reconstructed via their decay into charged hadrons with the ALICE detector in the rapidity range −0.5 < y < 0. The transverse momentum spectra, measured as a function of the multiplicity, have a pT range from 0 to 15 GeV/c for K∗0 and from 0.3 to 21 GeV/c for φ. Integrated yields, mean transverse momenta and particle ratios are reported and compared with results in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV and Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. Impact of repeaters on the performance of indoor visible light communications

In this study, we examine the performance of fixed gain amplify-and-forward repeaters for visible light communication (VLC) systems. We present the wireless optical channel model for VLC with the repeater and we evaluate the bit-error-rate (BER) performance for pulse-position modulation over the multipath channel with additive white Gaussian noise. The results reveal that when a repeater is placed, both the BER and the illuminance performance can be improved at any location in a typical office space. Intraspinal Bullet Migration: A Rare Case Report

Bullet migration is rarely reported in the literature. Herein we represent a case of penetrating gunshot injury with bullet migration from thoracic T7 spine to T10. A 34-year-old man was admitted to the emergency department with a gunshot wound on his left shoulder without an exit wound. He was paraplegic. Non-strange and strange D-meson and charm-baryon production in heavy-ion collisions measured with ALICE at the LHC

We present recent results on strange and non-strange D-meson production measured with ALICE in Pb-Pb collisions at the LI-IC. In addition, the measurements of the Lambda(+)(c)-baryon production and of the Lambda(+)(c)/D-0 ratio in pp, p-Pb, and, for the first time ever, Pb-Pb collisions are reported.
