Import Dependency And Seeking For New Energy Technologies European Union Case

ÖZKAN NESİMİOĞLU, Şerife

In this paper, energy poverty and as a result of this energy import dependency and its possible negative results have been examined by taking European Union (EU) into consideration. This analysis has two aims: the first one is questioning the European Unions’ energy security from supply perspective and the second one is investigating the solutions produced by European Union to get away or at least to reduce its energy import dependency. To guarantee its energy supply security at affordable price and to attain its targets about energy security, some action plans has been being put into practice ...Daha fazlası

Biogas Potential Of Ereğli City

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem

Turkey's growth and development goals mean that its energy need will increase rapidly in proportion to its growth. Meeting the increasing energy need from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas causes the depletion of natural resources. Another problem is that the increase in energy demand is increasingly met with imports. The solution of this problem is to diversify the energy supply with renewable energy sources. Biogas is one of the renewable energy sources. Biogas potential of Ereğli District was revealed in this study.

Kompost ve Biyogaz Tesisleri Alanında Konya Sinerjisi

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem | BAŞTAN, Erdal

Storage of livestock waste on inappropriate conditions; creating visual pollution and various gases resulting from waste stack affect the air quality of the region negatively. Uncontrolled landfilling of waste threatens human and environmental health, as it destroys both the soil and groundwater since it destroys the biological structure of the soil. It is necessary to get rid of the contradiction of evaluating organic waste, important source of energy and fertilizer, when environmental problems caused by organic waste and external dependence on energy and chemical fertilizer are taken into co ...Daha fazlası

Renewable Energy Development In Turkey And Its Potential To Help Combat Climate Change

UYANIK, Sırrı | UÇKUN ÖZKAN, Ayşegül

Primary energy consumption is increasing day by day due to Turkey's growing population, rapid urbanization and rapid economic growth. A large part of the energy need is provided from fossil fuels. This causes approximately 73% of Turkey's total energy consumption to be met through imports. In this respect, renewable energy is very important for a country like Turkey that meets its energy needs generally with imported fossil energy sources, and therefore, its dependence on foreign energy reaches serious dimensions. Therefore, Turkey should determine a low-carbon and climate-compatible developme ...Daha fazlası

The Future Role of Renewables in Turkey’s Electricity Supply Security

UYANIK, Sırrı

As a fast-developing economy, Turkey’s energy needs have also been growing rapidly for several decades. Its indigenous resources have been evaluated as insufficient to meet this rapidly increasing demand for energy, especially power. Therefore, it imports around half of its energy needs for power. Recently, it has newly started tapping into renewable sources, especially wind and solar. Considering these developments and official aims, this paper attempts to answer the question of which role this renewable developments can play in providing electricity supply security, which is a critical part ...Daha fazlası
