Suppression of ψ(2S) production in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The ALICE Collaboration has studied the inclusive production of the char- monium state ψ(2S) in proton-lead (p-Pb) collisions at the nucleon-nucleon centre of mass energy √sNN = 5.02 TeV at the CERN LHC. The measurement was performed at forward (2.03 < ycms < 3.53) and backward (−4.46 < ycms < −2.96) centre of mass rapidities, studying the decays into muon pairs. In this paper, we present the inclusive production cross sections σψ(2S), both integrated and as a function of the transverse momentum pT, for the two ycms domains. The results are compared to those obtained for the 1S vector state (J ...Daha fazlası

Exclusive J/ψ photoproduction off protons in ultra-peripheral p-Pb collisions at sNN−−−√=5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first measurement at the LHC of exclusive J=ψ photoproduction off protons, in pffiffiffiffiffiffiffi ultraperipheral proton-lead collisions at sNN 1⁄4 5.02 TeV. Events are selected with a dimuon pair produced either in the rapidity interval, in the laboratory frame, 2.5 < y < 4 (p-Pb) or −3.6 < y < −2.6 (Pb-p), and no other particles observed in the ALICE acceptance. The measured cross sections σðγ þ p → J=ψ þ pÞ are 33.2 2.2ðstatÞ 3.2ðsystÞ 0.7ðtheorÞ nb in p-Pb and 284 36ðstatÞþ27ðsystÞ −32 26ðtheorÞ nb in Pb-p collisions. Measurement of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays was measured as a function of transverse momentum (pT) in minimum-bias p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. The measurement covers the pT interval 0.5 < pT < 12 GeV/c and the rapidity range −1.065 < ycms < 0.135 in the centre-of-mass reference frame. The contribution of electrons from background sources was subtracted using an invariant mass approach. The nuclear modification factor RpPb was calculated by comparing the pT-differential invariant cross section in p–Pb collisions to a pp reference at √ ...Daha fazlası

Charged-particle production as a function of multiplicity and transverse spherocity in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 and 13 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present a study of the inclusive charged- particle transverse momentum ( pT ) spectra as a function of charged-particle multiplicity density at mid-pseudorapidity, d Nch /dη, in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 and 13 TeV covering the kinematic range |η| < 0.8 and 0.15 < pT < 20 GeV/c. The results are presented for events with at least one charged particle in |η| < 1 (INEL > 0). The pT spectra are reported for two multiplicity estimators covering different pseudo- rapidity regions. The pT spectra normalized to that for INEL> 0 show little energy dependence. Moreover, the high-pT yields of charged ...Daha fazlası

Investigations of Anisotropic Flow Using Multiparticle Azimuthal Correlations in pp, p-Pb, Xe-Xe, and Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients (vn) and their cross-correlations using two- and multiparticle cumulant methods are reported in collisions of pp at √ s = 13 TeV, p–Pb at √sNN = 5.02 TeV, Xe–Xe at √sNN = 5.44 TeV, and Pb–Pb at √sNN = 5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. The multiplicity dependence of vn is studied in a very wide range from 20 to 3000 particles produced in the mid-rapidity region |η| < 0.8 for the transverse momentum range 0.2 < pT < 3.0 GeV/c. An ordering of the coefficients v2 > v3 > v4 is found in pp and p–Pb collisions, similar to that seen in large colli ...Daha fazlası

Forward-central two-particle correlations in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Two-particle angular correlations between trigger particles in the forward pseudorapidity range (2.5 < |η| < 4.0) and associated particles in the central range (|η| < 1.0) are measured with the ALICE detector in p–Pb collisions at a nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. The trigger particles are reconstructed using the muon spectrometer, and the associated particles by the central barrel tracking detectors. In high-multiplicity events, the double-ridge structure, previously discovered in two-particle angular correlations at midrapidity, is found to persist to the pseudorapidity ra ...Daha fazlası

Multiplicity dependence of light (anti-)nuclei production in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The measurement of the deuteron and anti-deuteron production in the rapidity range −1 < y < 0 as a function of transverse momentum and event multiplicity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV is presented. (Anti-)deuterons are identified via their specific energy loss dE/dx and via their time-of- flight. Their production in p–Pb collisions is compared to pp and Pb–Pb collisions and is discussed within the context of thermal and coalescence models. The ratio of integrated yields of deuterons to protons (d/p) shows a significant increase as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity of the ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of transverse energy at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the transverse energy (ET) measured with ALICE at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV as a function of centrality. The transverse energy was measured using identified single-particle tracks. The measurement was cross checked using the electromagnetic calorimeters and the transverse momentum distributions of identified particles previously reported by ALICE. The results are compared to theoretical models as well as to results from other experiments. The mean ET per unit pseudorapidity (η), ⟨dET/dη⟩, in 0%–5% central collisions is 1737 ± 6(stat.) ± 97(sys.) GeV. We find ...Daha fazlası

Inclusive quarkonium production in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This article reports on the inclusive production cross section of several quarkonium states, J/ψ, ψ(2S), ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S), measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC, in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV. The analysis is performed in the dimuon decay channel at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4). The integrated cross sections and transverse-momentum (pT) and rapidity (y) differential cross sections for J/ψ, ψ(2S), ϒ(1S), and the ψ(2S)-to-J/ψ cross section ratios are presented. The integrated cross sections, assuming unpolarized quarkonia, are: σJ/ψ (pT < 20 GeV/c) = 5.88 ± 0.03 ± 0.34 μb, σψ( ...Daha fazlası

First study of the two-body scattering involving charm hadrons

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This article presents the first measurement of the interaction between charm hadrons and nucleons. The two-particle momentum correlations of pD− and pD¯ þ pairs are measured by the ALICE Collaboration in high-multiplicity pp collisions at ffiffi s p ¼ 13 TeV. The data are compatible with the Coulomb-only interaction hypothesis within ð1.1–1.5Þσ. The level of agreement slightly improves if an attractive nucleon ðNÞD strong interaction is considered, in contrast to most model predictions which suggest an overall ¯ repulsive interaction. This measurement allows for the first time an estimation of ...Daha fazlası

(Anti) Hypertriton lifetime measurement in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV via two-body decay

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV collected by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The (anti-)hypertriton has been reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel and the lifetime has been determined from an exponential fit to the dN/d(ct) spectrum. The measured value, τ = 242+34 (stat.) ± −38 17 (syst.) ps, is compatible with representative theoretical predictions, thus contributing to the solution of the longstanding hypertriton lifetime puzzle.

Measurement of anti-3 He nuclei absorption in matter and impact on their propagation in the Galaxy

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

In our Galaxy, light antinuclei composed of antiprotons and antineutrons can be produced through high-energy cosmic-ray collisions with the interstellar medium or could also originate from the annihilation of dark-matter particles that have not yet been discovered. On Earth, the only way to produce and study antinuclei with high precision is to create them at high-energy particle accelerators. Although the properties of elementary antiparticles have been studied in detail, the knowledge of the interaction of light antinuclei with matter is limited. We determine the disappearance probability of ...Daha fazlası
