Gloss effect on vocabulary learning

This study examined the effectiveness of L1 and L2 glosses on incidental vocabulary learning through reading. It was conducted at a private university in Konya, Turkey and the participants of the study are 50 pre-intermediate level prep EFL learners. The students were divided into two as L1 and L2 gloss groups. The data analysis was carried out by using independent samples and paired samples T-tests. First results on the longitudinal asymmetry and its effect on the pseudorapidity distributions in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider are obtained with the ALICE detector. The longitudinal asymmetry arises because of an unequal number of participating nucleons from the two colliding nuclei, and is estimated for each event by measuring the energy in the forward neutron-Zero- Degree-Calorimeters (ZNs). The strength of forward-backward (FB) multiplicity correlations is measured √ s = 0.9, 2.76 and 7TeV. The measurement is performed in the central pseudorapidity region (|η| < 0.8) for the transverse momentum pT > 0.3GeV/c. Two separate pseudorapidity windows of width (δη) ranging from 0.2 to 0.8 are chosen symmetrically around η = 0. The multiplicity correlation strength (bcorr) is studied as a function of the pseudorapidity gap (ηgap) between the two windows as well as the width of these windows.
