Effective 3D Surface Modeling for Geographic Information Systems

MENDİ, Engin | ALPARSLAN, Mesut | YÜKSEK, Kemal

Abstract. In this work, we propose a dynamic, flexible and interactive urban digital terrain platform with spatial data and query processing capabilities of geographic information systems, multimedia database functionality and graphical modeling infrastructure. A new data element, called Geo-Node, which stores image, spatial data and 3-D CAD objects is developed using an efficient data structure. The system effectively handles data transfer of Geo-Nodes between main memory and secondary storage with an optimized directional replacement policy (DRP) based buffer management scheme. Polyhedron st ...Daha fazlası

Differential studies of inclusive J/ψ and ψ(2S) production at forward rapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN =2.76TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of J/ψ and ψ(2S) was studied with the ALICE detector in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The measurement was performed at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) down to zero transverse momentum (pt) in the dimuon decay channel. Inclusive J/ψ yields were extracted in different centrality classes and the centrality dependence of the average pt is presented. The J/ψ suppression, quantified with the nuclear modification factor (RAA), was measured as a function of centrality, transverse momentum and rapidity. Comparisons with similar measurements at lower collision energy and theoretical models ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of transverse energy at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the transverse energy (ET) measured with ALICE at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV as a function of centrality. The transverse energy was measured using identified single-particle tracks. The measurement was cross checked using the electromagnetic calorimeters and the transverse momentum distributions of identified particles previously reported by ALICE. The results are compared to theoretical models as well as to results from other experiments. The mean ET per unit pseudorapidity (η), ⟨dET/dη⟩, in 0%–5% central collisions is 1737 ± 6(stat.) ± 97(sys.) GeV. We find ...Daha fazlası

Novel amperometric xanthine biosensor based on xanthine oxidase immobilized on electrochemically polymerized 10-[4H-dithieno(3,2-b:2′,3′-d)pyrrole-4-yl]decane-1-amine film

DERVISEVIC, Muamer | DERVISEVIC, Esma | AZAK, Hacer | ÇEVİK, Emre | ŞENEL, Mehmet | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir

In this paper, a novel amperometric xanthine (X) biosensor is constructed by xanthine oxidase (XOx) immobilization on the pencil graphite electrode (PGE). Xanthine oxidase is immobilized using glutaraldehyde (GA) on the electrochemically polymerized conducting polymer film. The detection of xanthine is based on its consumed amount due to the enzymatic reaction of xanthine oxidase. The effects of polymer thickness, applied potential, pH, and temperature were investigated and optimum parameters were found to be five cycles, +5 V, +0.5 V and 30 °C, respectively. Storage stability, operation stabi ...Daha fazlası

Anisotropic Flow of Charged Particles in Pb-Pb Collisions at 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the first results of elliptic (v2), triangular (v3), and quadrangular (v4) flow of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sNN 1⁄4 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurements are performed in the central pseudorapidity region jηj < 0.8 and for the transverse momentum range 0.2 < pT < 5 GeV=c. The anisotropic flow is measured using two-particle correlations with a pseudorapidity gap greater than one unit and with the multiparticle cumulant method. Compared to results from Pb-Pb collisions at sNN = 2. ...Daha fazlası

Hardware implementation of a scale and rotation invariant object detection algorithm on FPGA for real-time applications

PEKER, Murat | ALTUN, Halis | KARAKAYA, Fuat

A hardware implementation of a computationally light, scale, and rotation invariant method for shape detection on FPGA is devised. The method is based on histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) and average magnitude difference function (AMDF). AMDF is used as a decision module that measures the similarity/dissimilarity between HOG vectors of an image in order to classify the object. In addition, a simulation environment implemented on MATLAB is developed in order to overcome the time-consuming and tedious process of hardware verification on the FPGA platform. The simulation environment provides ...Daha fazlası

Forward-central two-particle correlations in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Two-particle angular correlations between trigger particles in the forward pseudorapidity range (2.5 < |η| < 4.0) and associated particles in the central range (|η| < 1.0) are measured with the ALICE detector in p–Pb collisions at a nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. The trigger particles are reconstructed using the muon spectrometer, and the associated particles by the central barrel tracking detectors. In high-multiplicity events, the double-ridge structure, previously discovered in two-particle angular correlations at midrapidity, is found to persist to the pseudorapidity ra ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays was measured as a function of transverse momentum (pT) in minimum-bias p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. The measurement covers the pT interval 0.5 < pT < 12 GeV/c and the rapidity range −1.065 < ycms < 0.135 in the centre-of-mass reference frame. The contribution of electrons from background sources was subtracted using an invariant mass approach. The nuclear modification factor RpPb was calculated by comparing the pT-differential invariant cross section in p–Pb collisions to a pp reference at √ ...Daha fazlası

Pseudorapidity dependence of the anisotropic flow of charged particles in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present measurements of the elliptic (v2 ), triangular (v3 ) and quadrangular (v4 ) anisotropic azimuthal flow over a wide range of pseudorapidities (−3.5 < η < 5). The measurements are performed with Pb– Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV using the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The flow harmonics are obtained using two- and four-particle correlations from nine different centrality intervals covering central to peripheral collisions. We find that the shape of vn(η) is largely independent of centrality for the flow harmonics n = 2–4, however the higher harmonics fall off m ...Daha fazlası
