Effect of Bentonite, Fly Ash and Silica Fume cement injections on uniaxial compressive strength of granular bases

TAN, Özcan | GÜNGÖRMÜŞ, Gökhan | ZAİMOĞLU, Ahmet Şahin

Injection is one of the methods to improve the engineering properties of bases. Various additions as well as cement are used for preparations of injection blends in order to lower costs and reach better results. For this purpose in the preparation of the injection blends, Bentonite (B), Fly Ash (FA) and Silica Fume (SF) were used at the ratios of 0-0.5-1-3%, 10-20-30-40% and 0-5-10-20%, respectively. Taguchi method was applied for the experiment and L16 Orthogonal (OA) with three factors and four levels were chosen. Granular bases having 0.70 relative density was settled into a cylindrical mol ...Daha fazlası

Calixarene modified montmorillonite: A novel design for biosensing applications

SÖNMEZ, Burak | SAYIN, Serkan | YALÇINKAYA, Esra Evrim | AĞ SELECİ, Didem | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir | ODACI DEMİRKOL, Dilek | TİMUR, Suna

Here we report the synthesis, characterization and application of calixarene (Calix) modified montmorillonite (Mt) as a platform for bio-applications such as biomolecule immobilization and biosensing technologies. This modification enhanced the biomolecule immobilization capability of Mt. Initially, amino-functionalised calixarenes (Calix-NH2) were synthesized and used as a modifier. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, zeta potential and thermal gravimetric analysis were performed to verify the modification of the clay minerals. For the biosensor construction, Calix-NH2 ...Daha fazlası

Tagging accuracy analysis on part-of-speech taggers

YUMUŞAK, Semih | DOĞDU, Erdoğan | KODAZ, Halife

Part of Speech (POS) Tagging can be applied by several tools and several programming languages. This work focuses on the Natural Language Toolkit (NLTK) library in the Python environment and the gold standard corpora installable. The corpora and tagging methods are analyzed and compared by using the Python language. Different taggers are analyzed according to their tagging accuracies with data from three different corpora. In this study, we have analyzed Brown, Penn Treebank and NPS Chat corpuses. The taggers we have used for the analysis are; default tagger, regex tagger, n-gram taggers. We h ...Daha fazlası

Hierarchical representation of video sequences for annotation

MENDİ, Engin

Video annotation is an important issue in video content management systems. Rapid growth of the digital video data has created a need for efficient and reasonable mechanisms that can ease the annotation process. In this paper, we propose a novel hierarchical clustering based system for video annotation. The proposed system generates a top-down hierarchy of the video streams using hierarchical k-means clustering. A tree-based structure is produced by dividing the video recursively into sub-groups, each of which consists of similar content. Based on the visual features, each node of the tree is ...Daha fazlası

Event-by-event mean pT fluctuations in pp and Pb–Pb collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Event-by-event fluctuations of the mean trans- verse momentum of charged particles produced in pp colli- sions at √s = 0.9, 2.76 and 7 TeV, and Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV are studied as a function of the charged- particle multiplicity using the ALICE detector at the LHC. Dynamical fluctuations indicative of correlated particle emis- sion are observed in all systems. The results in pp collisions show little dependence on collision energy. The Monte Carlo event generators PYTHIA and PHOJET are in qualitative agreement with the data. Peripheral Pb–Pb data exhibit a sim- ilar multiplicity ...Daha fazlası

Beauty production in pp collisions at √s = 2.76 TeV measured via semi-electronic decays

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The ALICE Collaboration at the LHC reports measurement of the inclusive production cross section of electrons from semi-leptonic decays of beauty hadrons with rapidity |y| < 0.8 and transverse momentum 1 < pT < 10 GeV/c, in pp collisions at √ s = 2.76 TeV. Electrons not originating from semi-electronic decay of beauty hadrons are suppressed using the impact parameter of the corresponding tracks. The production cross section of beauty decay electrons is compared to the result obtained with an alternative method which uses the distribution of the azimuthal angle between heavy-flavour decay elect ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of quarkonium production at forward rapidity in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Abstract The inclusive production cross sections at for- ward rapidity of J/ψ , ψ (2S), Υ (1S) and Υ (2S) are measured in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The analysis is based on a data sample corre- sponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.35 pb−1. Quarko- nia are reconstructed in the dimuon-decay channel and the signal yields are evaluated by fitting the μ+μ− invariant mass distributions. The differential production cross sections are measured as a function of the transverse momentum pT and rapidity y, over the ranges 0 < pT < 20 GeV/c for J/ψ, 0 < pT < 12 Ge ...Daha fazlası

The Relationship Between Mobbing and Employee Mental Health

ASLAN, Şebnem | AKARÇAY, Demet

In the recent years, the negative effects of mobbing on employee health have been frequently expressed. For these reason, the objective of the study was stated to investigate whether mobbing has effects on employee health. The study was conducted in Konya, a province of Turkey among 181 healthcare employees. In the study Grunau’s (2007) Work Harassment scale, Arrindell, Heesink ve Feij’s (1999) The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being, and Kevin’s (2000) Well-Being at Work scales were used. In the result of the study, it was determined that mobbing affected l ...Daha fazlası

Production of charged pions, kaons and protons at large transverse momenta in pp and Pb–Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Transverse momentum spectra of π±, K± and p(p ̄) up to pT = 20 GeV/c at mid-rapidity in pp, peripheral (60–80%) and central (0–5%) Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV have been measured using the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The proton-to-pion and the kaon-to-pion ratios both show a distinct peak at pT ≈ 3 GeV/c in central Pb–Pb collisions. Below the peak, pT < 3 GeV/c, both ratios are in good agreement with hydrodynamical calculations, suggesting that the peak itself is dominantly the result of radial flow rather than anomalous hadronization processes. For pT > 10 GeV/c partic ...Daha fazlası
