Measurement of electrons from semileptonic heavy-flavor hadron decays in p p collisions at √ s = 2.76     TeV

The pT-differential production cross section of electrons from semileptonic decays of heavy-flavor hadrons has been measured at midrapidity in proton-proton collisions at s 1⁄4 2.76 TeV in the transverse momentum range 0.5 < pT < 12 GeV=c with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The analysis was performed using minimum bias events and events triggered by the electromagnetic calorimeter. Predictions from perturbative QCD calculations agree with the data within the theoretical and experimental uncertainties.

The measurement of primary π ± , K ± , p and p production at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) in proton–proton col- lisions at √s = 7 TeV performed with a large ion collider experiment at the large hadron collider (LHC) is reported. Particle identification is performed using the specific ioni- sation energy-loss and time-of-flight information, the ring- imaging Cherenkov technique and the kink-topology identifi- cation of weak decays of charged kaons. Correlations induced by quantum statistics are sensitive to the spatiotemporal extent as well as dynamics of particle-emitting sources in heavy-ion collisions. In addition, such correlations can be used to search for the presence of a coherent component of pion production. Azimuthal anisotropy of charged jet production in √sNN = 2.76 TeV Pb–Pb collisions

We present measurements of the azimuthal dependence of charged jet production in central and semi- central √sNN = 2.76 TeV Pb–Pb collisions with respect to the second harmonic event plane, quantified as vch jet. Jet finding is performed employing the anti-kT algorithm with a resolution parameter R = 0.2 2 using charged tracks from the ALICE tracking system. Multipion Bose-Einstein correlations in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

Three- and four-pion Bose-Einstein correlations are presented in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. We compare our measured four-pion correlations to the expectation derived from two- and three-pion measurements. Such a comparison provides a method to search for coherent pion emission. We also present mixed-charge correlations in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of several analysis procedures such as Coulomb corrections. The production of charged pions, kaons and (anti)protons has been measured at mid-rapidity (−0.5 < y < 0) in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. Investigations of Anisotropic Flow Using Multiparticle Azimuthal Correlations in pp, p-Pb, Xe-Xe, and Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC

Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients (vn) and their cross-correlations using two- and multiparticle cumulant methods are reported in collisions of pp at √ s = 13 TeV, p–Pb at √sNN = 5.02 TeV, Xe–Xe at √sNN = 5.44 TeV, and Pb–Pb at √sNN = 5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. The multiplicity dependence of vn is studied in a very wide range from 20 to 3000 particles produced in the mid-rapidity region |η| < 0.8 for the transverse momentum range 0.2 < pT < 3.0 GeV/c. Measurement of transverse energy at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

We report the transverse energy (ET) measured with ALICE at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV as a function of centrality. The transverse energy was measured using identified single-particle tracks. The measurement was cross checked using the electromagnetic calorimeters and the transverse momentum distributions of identified particles previously reported by ALICE. The results are compared to theoretical models as well as to results from other experiments. Suppression of Υ (1S) at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

We report on the measurement of the inclusive Υ (1S) production in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV carried out at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) and down to zero transverse momentum using its μ+μ− decay channel with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A strong suppression of the inclusive Υ(1S) yield is observed with respect to pp collisions scaled by the number of independent nucleon– nucleon collisions. Measurement of Z0-boson production at large rapidities in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

The production of Z0 bosons at large rapidities in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV is reported. Z0 candidates are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel (Z0 → μ+ μ−), based on muons selected with pseudo-rapidity −4.0 < η < −2.5 and pT > 20 GeV/c. The invariant yield and the nuclear modification factor, RAA, are presented as a function of rapidity and collision centrality. The value of RAA for the 0–20% central Pb–Pb collisions is 0.67 ± 0.11 (stat.) ± 0.03 (syst.) ± 0.06 (corr. syst.), exhibiting a deviation of 2.6σ from unity. Insight into particle production mechanisms via angular correlations of identified particles in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

Two-particle angular correlations were mea- sured in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV for pions, kaons, pro- tons, and lambdas, for all particle/anti-particle combinations in the pair. Data for mesons exhibit an expected peak domi- nated by effects associated with mini-jets and are well repro- duced by general purpose Monte Carlo generators. However, for baryon–baryon and anti-baryon–anti-baryon pairs, where both particles have the same baryon number, a near-side anti- correlation structure is observed instead of a peak.
