The elliptic flow of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.7) is measured in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The particle azimuthal distribution with respect to the reaction plane can be parametrized with a Fourier expansion, where the second coefficient (v2) represents the elliptic flow. The v2 coefficient of inclusive electrons is measured in three centrality classes (0–10%, 10–20% and 20–40%) with the event plane and the scalar product methods in the transverse momentum (pT) intervals 0.5–13GeV/c and 0.5–8GeV/c, respectively. Abstract: The measurement of prompt D-meson production as a function of multiplic- ity in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC is re- ported. D0, D+ and D∗+ mesons are reconstructed via their hadronic decay channels in the centre-of-mass rapidity range −0.96 < ycms < 0.04 and transverse momentum interval 1 < pT < 24 GeV/c. The multiplicity dependence of D-meson production is examined by either comparing yields in p–Pb collisions in different event classes, selected based on the multiplicity of produced particles or zero-degree energy, with those in pp collisions ...Daha fazlası
We present the first measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the K0 and K± particles in pp √S collisions at s = 7 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding solely via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength parameters for K0SK− are found to be equal within the experimental uncertainties to those for K0K+. Results of the present study are compared with those S√ from identical-kaon femtoscopic studies also performed with pp collisions at s = 7 TeV by ALICE a ...Daha fazlası
We report the results of the femtoscopic analysis of pairs of identical pions measured in p-Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV. Femtoscopic radii are determined as a function of event multiplicity and pair momentum in three spatial dimensions. As in the pp collision system, the analysis is complicated by the presence of sizable background correlation structures in addition to the femtoscopic signal. The radii increase with event multiplicity and decrease with pair transverse momentum. When taken at comparable multiplicity, the radii measured in p-Pb collisions, at high multiplicity and low pair t ...Daha fazlası
Azimuthally-differential femtoscopic measurements, being sensitive to spatio-temporal characteristics of the source as well as to the collective velocity fields at freeze out, provide very important information on the nature and dynamics of the system evolution. While the HBT radii oscillations relative to the second harmonic event plane measured recently reflect mostly the spatial geometry of the source, model studies have shown that the HBT radii oscillations relative to the third harmonic event plane are predominantly defined by the velocity fields. In this Letter, we present the first resu ...Daha fazlası
The correlations between event-by-event fluctuations of anisotropic flow harmonic amplitudes have been measured in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results are reported in terms of multiparticle correlation observables dubbed symmetric cumulants. These observables are robust against biases originating from nonflow effects. The centrality dependence of correlations between the higher order harmonics (the quadrangular v4 and pentagonal v5 flow) and the lower order harmonics (the elliptic v2 and triangular v3 flow) is presented. The tra ...Daha fazlası
We present the first measurement of the two-particle transverse momentum differential correlation function, P2 ≡ h∆pT∆pTi/hpTi 2 , in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. Results for P2 are reported as a function of relative pseudorapidity (∆η) and azimuthal angle (∆ϕ) between two particles for different collision centralities. The ∆φ dependence is found to be largely independent of ∆η for |∆η| ≥ 0.9. In 5% most central Pb–Pb collisions, the two-particle transverse momentum correlation function exhibits a clear double-hump structure around ∆ϕ = π (i.e., on the away side), which is not observed ...Daha fazlası
The first measurement of the Υð1SÞ elliptic flow coefficient (v2) is performed at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN 1⁄4 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The results are obtained with the scalar product method and are reported as a function of transverse momentum (pT ) up to 15 GeV=c in the 5%–60% centrality interval. The measured Upsilon is consistent with 0 and with the small positive values predicted by transport models within uncertainties. The v2 coefficient in 2 < pT < 15 GeV=c is lower than that of inclusive J=ψ mesons in the same pT interval by 2.6 st ...Daha fazlası
We report on results obtained with the event-shape engineering technique applied to Pb-Pb collisions at sNN = 2.76 TeV. By selecting events in the same centrality interval, but with very different average flow, different initial-state conditions can be studied. We find the effect of the event-shape selection on the elliptic flow coefficient v2 to be almost independent of transverse momentum pT, which is as expected if this effect is attributable to fluctuations in the initial geometry of the system. Charged-hadron, -pion, -kaon, and -proton transverse momentum distributions are found to be har ...Daha fazlası
The elliptic, triangular, quadrangular and pentagonal anisotropic flow coeffi- cients for π±, K± and p+p in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV were measured with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results were obtained with the Scalar Product method, correlating the identified hadrons with reference particles from a different pseudorapidity region. Effects not related to the common event symmetry planes (non-flow) were estimated using correlations in pp collisions and were subtracted from the measure- ment. The obtained flow coefficients exhibit a clear mass ordering for tra ...Daha fazlası
Abstract: The production of prompt D+s mesons was measured for the first time in collisions of heavy nuclei with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The analysis was performed on a data sample of Pb-Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair, √sNN, of 2.76 TeV in two different centrality classes, namely 0–10% and 20–50%. D+s mesons and their antiparticles were reconstructed at mid-rapidity from their hadronic decay channel D+s → φπ+, with φ → K−K+, in the transverse momentum intervals 4 < pT < 12 GeV/c and 6 < pT < 12GeV/c for the 0–10% and 20–50% centrality classes, respectively. The transverse structure of jets was studied via jet fragmentation transverse momentum (jT) distributions, obtained using two-particle correlations in proton-proton and proton-lead collisions, measured with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The highest transverse momentum particle in each event is used as the trigger particle and the region 3 < pTt < 15 GeV/c is explored in this study. The measured distributions show a clear narrow Gaussian component and a wide non-Gaussian one. Based on Pythia simulations, the narrow component can be related to non-perturbative hadronization and the wide compo ...Daha fazlası
