Methyl methacrylate in external fixation of supracondylar humerus fractures: An experimental study

GÜLEÇ, Ali | ACAR, Mehmet Ali | AYDIN, Bahattin Kerem | DEMİR, Teyfik | ÖZKAYA, Mustafa

Supracondylar humerus fractures are common fractures around the elbow. Open fractures, comminuted metaphyseal fractures and also fractures with bone loss may need to be treated with external fixators. The aim of this study is to compare two different external fixators, tubular external fixators and polymethyl methacrylate with K wires external fixators, with regard to stiffness and stability for metaphyseal-diaphyseal osteotomies of distal humerus close to the joint. Six matched pairs (24 specimens) of second-generation sawbone humerus were prepared in a standard fashion to create a metaphysea ...Daha fazlası

A Correlation Improvement Technique for Model Updating of Structures

ALTUNEL, Fatih | ÇELİK, Mehmet | ÇALIŞKAN, Mahmut

This study proposes a new correlation improvement technique for the optimum node removal location to get improved modal assurance criterion (MAC) matrix. The technique is applied to updating of the finite element model (FEM) of a structure. The developed routine is tried on a utility helicopter. It is proven that it is capable of showing better performance than the coordinate MAC (coMAC), commonly used in such analyses. Commercial software is utilized for the finite element analysis of the helicopter fuselage and tail. Experimental modal analyses are also performed for updating the model for t ...Daha fazlası

Sexual Life of Women with Multiple Sclerosis: A Qualitative Study

YILMAZ, Sema | GÜMÜŞ, Haluk | ODABAŞ, Ömer Faruk | AKKURT, Halil Ekrem | YILMAZ, Halim

Objectives: To define the thoughts, emotions, experiences and perceptions of women with multiple sclerosis (MS) and to determine sexual, physical, and emotional effects of MS on patients. Methods: Twenty-one women were included into this qualitatively designed study. Results: Three baseline themes were defined as “uncertainty” arising from complaints due to numbness in extremities and loss of sense, balance or vision, “alterations in sexual life,” and “inability” as a result of deformities in marital status and gender role. Conclusion: Healthcare providers should evaluate MS patients meticulou ...Daha fazlası

The Association between Chronicity of Migraine and Complementary and Alternative Medication Use: The Turkish Perspective

ERTEM, Devrimsel Harika | BAŞARIR, İlker | ERYİĞİT BARAN, Gözde | KOCABIYIK, Nurhan | İLİK, Faik

Background and Purpose: The term of Complementary and Alternative Medication (CAM) is described by patients as all types of practices to prevent or treat illnesses, which are not currently considered as a part of conventional medicine. Although the advance in treatment for migraine, some patients prefer CAM therapies due to their concerns about conventional therapies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between CAM use and chronicity of migraine among Turkish migraineurs. Methods: Consecutive episodic and chronic migraine patients were recruited. A questionnaire of a list of ...Daha fazlası

Risk management in lean & green supply chain: A novel fuzzy linguistic risk assessment approach

PAKSOY, Turan | ÇALIK, Ahmet | YILDIZBAŞI, Abdullah | HUBER, Sandra

In today’s world, the pressure of competition considerably changed because of the increasing pressure of market competition, changes in customer expectations due to global warming and the globalization of the economy. Growing pressures in supply chain activities urge to companies to adopt new approaches by reducing waste and planning environmental friendly processes, such as recycling, reuse, and remanufacturing. There have been several studies proposed that lean activities can help make the case for environmental impact reduction to companies. Thus, most companies have reorganized their suppl ...Daha fazlası

Lean and Green Supplier Selection Problem: A Novel Multi Objective Linear Programming Model for an Electronics Board Manufacturing Company in Turkey

ÇALIK, Ahmet | PAKSOY, Turan | HUBER, Sandra

Even though various studies are proposed to evaluate and determine the best suppliers, studies generally consider similar factors such as cost, quality, delivery time etc. in the supplier selection problem. Nowadays, some lean and green issues such as on time (JIT) delivery, waste reduction, avoidance and treatment of hazardous materials, energy efficiency, occupational health and safety, corporate social responsibility, etc. started to be addressed together with the supplier selection process. Lean and Green Supply Chain Management (L-GSCM) is a dynamic field for companies to gain advantages ...Daha fazlası

A New Model for Lean and Green Closed-Loop Supply Chain Optimization

PAKSOY, Turan | ÇALIK, Ahmet | KUMPF, Alexander | WEBER, Gerhard Wilhelm

The dynamics of Supply Chain Management (SCM) have changed over the years; new paradigms are added into the SCM as a response to changes related with increasing environmental concerns and pressures. Therefore, lean and green practices in a company belong to its most important factors to enhance the company’s performance. In this study a new model, inspired by an automotive supply chain, is proposed for lean and green closed-loop supply chain management. In this model, we deal with lean and green drivers to set the objectives of the decision makers (DMs) as follows; (1) Construction: The amount ...Daha fazlası

Evaluation of the development plans between the years 1963 and 2018 in Turkey

AKIN, Elmas

Planning, which means to determine the way in advance, has occured throughout history. The planning process, which includes elements such as determining current sources and evaluating options, is also important because of decreasing inequities and correcting imbalances. After World War II, planning was set as one of the development method. After experiences of economical plans, in 1961, the State Planning Organization (SPO) was founded and made planning more formal in Turkey. Development plans, which have continued with the Development Ministry that was founded in 2011, are important documents ...Daha fazlası

Comparison Between The Effects Of Different Types Of Membership Functions On Fuzzy Logic For Hydroxy Dry Cell Performance

IŞIKTAŞ, Abdullah | DİNÇER, Kevser | ATA, Sadık

In this study, hydroxy (HHO) dry cell performances in terms of voltage, current and temperature were modeled with Rule-Based Mamdani-Type Fuzzy (RBMTF) modeling technique. Input parameters plate combination and time, output parameters voltage, current, temperature were described by RBMTF if-the rules. Current, voltage and temperature were measured for the different membership functions. Numerical parameters of input and output variables were fuzzificated as linguistic variables: very very low (L-1), very low (L-2), low (L-3), negative medium (L-4), medium (L-5), positive medium (L-6), high (L- ...Daha fazlası

A 3D face animation system for mobile devices

MENDİ, Engin

In this paper, we present a 3D face animation system rendered on mobile devices. The system automatically creates realistic facial animation from text input with emotion tags. First, an input string is converted into synthetic voice and phonetic information. Then, 3D head model performs facial movements synchronized to the speech. The proposed system offers an affordable quick solution for applications that require virtual actors speaking text in which human-machine interfaces on mobile devices can profit.
