Investigation of the effect of belinostat on MCF-7 breast cancer stem cells via the Wnt, Notch, and Hedgehog signaling pathway.

TUNCER, Zeliha | KURAR, Ercan | DURAN, Tugçe

Objectives: To evaluate belinostat’s (PXD101) activity on MCF-7 breast cancer stem cells (CSCs) via Wnt, Notch, and Hedgehog. Methods: This research study was carried out at the Department of Medical Biology, Necmettin Erbakan University, Konya, Turkey, from June 2017 to July 2019. The effect of PXD101 on MCF-7 cell viability was determined by cell proliferation kit (XTT). Following belinostat treatment, CD44+/ CD24- MCF-7 CSCs were isolated by FACS. Ribonucleic acid isolation and copy-deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis were carried out using HEK-293 cells, MCF-7 cells, and MCF-7 CSCs. Expression ...Daha fazlası

Subtype distribution and molecular characterization of Blastocystis from hemodialysis patients in Turkey.

GÜLHAN, Barış | AYDIN TERZİOĞLU, Merve | DEMİRKAZIK, Mehtap | KOLTAŞ, İsmail Soner | ÇIKMAN, Aytekin | TÜRKMEN, Kültigin | DURAN, Tuğçe

Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the Blastocystis prevalence and subtypes in hemodialysis patients in Turkey. Methodology: Eighty-four patients diagnosed with end-stage renal failure who were undergoing hemodialysis and 20 healthy volunteers were enrolled. Blastocystis presence was investigated by native-Lugol, trichrome staining, PCR using STS primers, and DNA sequencing analysis. Results: Among the stool samples from the hemodialysis patients, 9.52% (8/84) were found to be Blastocystis-positive with the native-Lugol and trichrome staining. Seven of the eight Blastocystis ...Daha fazlası

Effect of New Sulfonyl Hydrazone Compounds Against Candida Biofilms

AYDIN TERZİOĞLU, Merve | ÖZTÜRK, Ali | DURAN, Tuğçe | ÖZDEMİR ÖZMEN, Ümmühan | ŞUMLU, Esra

Objectives: Candidiasis is the most frequently encountered fungal infection, with ranges from mild superficial infections to disseminated candidiasis. Most manifestations of Candidiasis are associated with biofilm formation. Candida biofilms contributes to therapeutic failure due to resistance to antimicrobial agents and causes an increase in mortality rates. For these reasons, finding new drugs and antimicrobial agents are urgently needed. Sulfonyl hydrazones derived from sulfonamide, are well-known for its pharmacological effects, such as antifungal, antibacterial potential activity. This st ...Daha fazlası

Expression of Sap Genes 1-10 and Biofilm Formation in Candida Spp. Comparison of Healthcare Associated infectıon isolates from Bloodstream with Isolates from Other Sources

NSANGOU, Ahmed Moustapha | SAMADZADE, Rugiyya | DURAN, Tuğçe | MAÇİN, Salih | AYDIN TERZİOĞLU, Merve | FINDIK, Duygu

Candida species are yeast fungi that are common in nature and can cause both superficial and deep infections. According to recent data, Candida species are considered to be the main causative agents of healthcare-associated infections. In this study, it was aimed to determine Candida species, Sap genes and biofilm formation isolated from blood cultures, which are health care-associated infectious agents, and to evaluate them together with antifungal susceptibility tests. Candida spp. were identified by the Vitek 2 Compact method and then the results were verified by multiplex PCR and DNA seque ...Daha fazlası

Effects Of Fentanyl On Pancreatic Cancer Cell Proliferation And Cancer Stem Cell Differentiation

ÇELİK, Feyzi | DURAN, Tuğçe

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive cancer due to the late diagnosis and failure to respond to the treatment despite advances in tumor biology and the development of new cancer therapeutic strategies. It has been reported that these characteristics of pancreatic cancer originate from cancer stem cells within the tumor mass. It has also been reported that Fentanyl is a fast-acting analgesic that binds to the mu-opioid receptors and some other mu-opioid receptors are involved in this cancer process. In this study, we determined the effect of Fentanyl on PANC-1 cells, by assessing the ...Daha fazlası
