D-meson production in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV and in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

In the context of the investigation of the quark gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions, hadrons containing heavy (charm or beauty) quarks play a special role for the characterization of the hot and dense medium created in the interaction. The measurement of the production of charm and beauty hadrons in proton– proton collisions, besides providing the necessary reference for the studies in heavy-ion reactions, constitutes an important test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) calculations. Heavy-flavor production in proton–nucleus collisions is sensitive to the various effects ...Daha fazlası

Effective 3D Surface Modeling for Geographic Information Systems

MENDİ, Engin | ALPARSLAN, Mesut | YÜKSEK, Kemal

Abstract. In this work, we propose a dynamic, flexible and interactive urban digital terrain platform with spatial data and query processing capabilities of geographic information systems, multimedia database functionality and graphical modeling infrastructure. A new data element, called Geo-Node, which stores image, spatial data and 3-D CAD objects is developed using an efficient data structure. The system effectively handles data transfer of Geo-Nodes between main memory and secondary storage with an optimized directional replacement policy (DRP) based buffer management scheme. Polyhedron st ...Daha fazlası

Management of chlorine dosing rates in urban water distribution networks using online continuous monitoring and modeling

KARADİREK, İbrahim Ethem | KARA, Selami | MUHAMMETOĞLU, Ayşe | MUHAMMETOĞLU, Habib | SOYUPAK, Selçuk

The aim of this study is to present the results of a research which was undertaken to manage chlorine dosing rates in a real water distribution network using online continuous monitoring and modeling. The study area was divided into 18 district metered areas (DMAs) where the water pressure and flow rate measurements to each DMA were online and continuous. Besides, online water quality sensors were installed at eight different locations and a bimonthly water quality measurement and sampling program was carried out. The data sets required to set, calibrate and verify the hydraulic and chlorine m ...Daha fazlası

Optimization of consistency limits and plasticity index of fine-grained soils modified with polypropylene fibers and additive materials

ZAİMOĞLU, Ahmet Şahin | TAN, Özcan | AKBULUT, Rahim Kağan

It is a well-known fact that water content has a significant effect on the engineering properties of fine-grained soils. There is a close relationship between consistency limits and geotechnical parameters of fine-grained soils. This experimental study was performed to investigate the effect of randomly distributed polypropylene fibers (PP) and some additive materials [e.g., Borogypsum (BG), Fly Ash (FA) and Cement (C)] on consistency limits and plasticity index of a fine-grained soil. The Taguchi method was applied to the experiments and standard L9 Orthogonal (OA) with four factors and three ...Daha fazlası

The validity of eight neoclassical facial canons in the Turkish adults

KARACA SAYGILI, Ömür | ÇINAR, Selçuk | GÜLCEN, Burak | ÖZCAN, Emrah | KUŞ, İlter

The neoclassical canons were used to define the proportions between various areas of the head and face. Therefore, this study was done to establish the neoclassical canons of facial proportions in Turkish adults. A total of 200 healthy adults 20 to 35 years of age were examined. Using anthropometric landmarks, 5 horizontal and 9 vertical direct measurements were made on the faces with a sliding calliper. Results have been compared with 8 neoclassical facial canons. When comparing between sexes, a significant difference has been found in all measurements except the upper facial width, left eye- ...Daha fazlası

MIPs and Aptamers for Recognition of Proteins in Biomimetic Sensing

MENGER, Marcus | YARMAN, Aysu | ERDŐSSY, Júlia | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir | GYURCSÁNYI, Róbert Ervin | SCHELLER, Frieder Wolfram

Biomimetic binders and catalysts have been generated in order to substitute the biological pendants in separation techniques and bioanalysis. The two major approaches use either "evolution in the test tube" of nucleotides for the preparation of aptamers or total chemical synthesis for molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). The reproducible production of aptamers is a clear advantage, whilst the preparation of MIPs typically leads to a population of polymers with different binding sites. The realization of binding sites in the total bulk of the MIPs results in a higher binding capacity, however ...Daha fazlası

Elliptic flow of muons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The elliptic flow, v2, of muons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) is measured in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The scalar product, two- and four-particle Q cumulants and Lee–Yang zeros methods are used. The dependence of the v2 of muons from heavy-flavour hadron decays on the collision centrality, in the range 0–40%, and on transverse momentum, pT, is studied in the interval 3 < pT < 10 GeV/c. A positive v2 is observed with the scalar product and two-particle Q cumulants in semi-central collisions (10–20% and 20–40% cen ...Daha fazlası

Centrality dependence of pion freeze-out radii in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on the measurement of freeze-out radii for pairs of identical-charge pions measured in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV as a function of collision centrality and the average transverse momentum of the pair kT. Three-dimensional sizes of the system (femtoscopic radii), as well as direction-averaged one- dimensional radii are extracted. The radii decrease with kT, following a power-law behavior. This is qualitatively consistent with expectations from a collectively expanding system, produced in hydrodynamic calculations. The radii also scale linearly with ⟨dNch/dη⟩1/3. This behavior ...Daha fazlası

Search for weakly decaying

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present results of a search for two hypothetical strange dibaryon states, i.e. the H-dibaryon and the possible !n bound state. The search is performed with the ALICE detector in central (0–10%) Pb– Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV, by invariant mass analysis in the decay modes !n → dπ+ and Hdibaryon → !pπ−. No evidence for these bound states is observed. Upper limits are determined at 99% confidence level for a wide range of lifetimes and for the full range of branching ratios. The results are compared to thermal, coalescence and hybrid UrQMD model expectations, which describe correctly the ...Daha fazlası

Centrality dependence of ψ(2S) suppression in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The inclusive production of the ψ(2S) charmonium state was studied as a function of centrality in p-Pb collisions at the nucleon-nucleon center of mass energy √sNN = 5.02 TeV at the CERN LHC. The measurement was performed with the ALICE detec- tor in the center of mass rapidity ranges −4.46 < ycms < −2.96 and 2.03 < ycms < 3.53, down to zero transverse momentum, by reconstructing the ψ(2S) decay to a muon pair. The ψ(2S) production cross section σψ(2S) is presented as a function of the collision cen- trality, which is estimated through the energy deposited in forward rapidity calorime- ters. T ...Daha fazlası

Transverse momentum dependence of D-meson production in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN=2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Abstract: The production of prompt charmed mesons D0, D+ and D∗+, and their an- tiparticles, was measured with the ALICE detector in Pb-Pb collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair, √sNN, of 2.76TeV. The production yields for rapidity |y| < 0.5 are presented as a function of transverse momentum, pT, in the interval 1–36GeV/c for the centrality class 0–10% and in the interval 1–16 GeV/c for the centrality class 30–50%. The nuclear modification factor RAA was computed using a proton-proton reference at √√ s = 2.76 TeV, based on measurements at s = 7 TeV and on theoretical calculat ...Daha fazlası
