p-p, p-lambda, and lambda-lambda correlations studied via femtoscopy in pp reactions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on the first femtoscopic measurement of baryon pairs, such as p-p, p-, and , measured by ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in proton-proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV. This study demonstrates the feasibility of such measurements in pp collisions at ultrarelativistic energies. The femtoscopy method is employed to constrain the hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interactions, which are still rather poorly understood. A new method to evaluate the influence of residual correlations induced by the decays of resonances and experimental impurities is hereby presented. The p-p, p-, and ...Daha fazlası

Constraining the magnitude of the Chiral Magnetic Effect with Event Shape Engineering in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

In ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions, the event-by-event variation of the fluctuations in the shape of the initial state of the system. This allows to select events with the same centrality but different initial geometry. This selection technique, Event Shape Engineering, has been used in the analysis of charge-dependent two- and three-particle correlations in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. The two-particle correlator ⟨cos(φα − φβ )⟩, calculated for different combinations of charges α and β, is almost independent of v2 (for a given centrality), while the three-particle correlator ⟨c ...Daha fazlası

One-dimensional pion, kaon, and proton femtoscopy in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The size of the particle emission region in high-energy collisions can be deduced using the femtoscopic correlations of particle pairs at low relative momentum. Such correlations arise due to quantum statistics and Coulomb and strong final state interactions. In this paper, results are presented from femtoscopic analyses of π±π±, K±K±, KS0KS0, pp, and pp correlations from Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. One-dimensional radii of the system are extracted from correlation functions in terms of the invariant momentum difference of the pair. The comparison of ...Daha fazlası

Thoracoscopic diaphragmatic plication with endostapler

ÖZKAN, Serdar

Diaphragma plication surgery is possibly the most advanced approach in terms of using different techniques. There are a number of plication and suturing methods, which are improved by transthoracic or thoracoscopic methods, and almost all of these techniques are still in use depending on an individual case or the status of diaphragm. We believe that the plication method using thoracoscopic methods and endostapler would be widely adopted as a safe technique. © 2017 All right reserved by the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.

Determination of the event collision time with the ALICE detector at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Particle identification is an important feature of the ALICE detector at the LHC. In particular, for particle identification via the time-of-flight technique, the precise determination of the event collision time represents an important ingredient of the quality of the measurement. In this paper, the different methods used for such a measurement in ALICE by means of the T0 and the TOF detectors are reviewed. Efficiencies, resolution and the improvement of the particle identification separation power of the methods used are presented for the different LHC colliding systems (pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb) ...Daha fazlası

Generating cash flows independently from other assets of the company is the most important distinctive feature of investment property. For example, a building which is used for administrative purposes do not generate cash flow directly while another building which is leased provides direct cash flows to the company. After the first recognition of investment property at cost value according to TAS 40, it is revaluated by using “cost method” or “fair value method” in the further periods. If the company revaluates its investment property by cost method, the valuation principles of TAS 16 shall be ...Daha fazlası

Effects of helicobacter pylori infections on ghrelin and leptin levels

KEFELİ, Ayşe | YENİOVA, Ahmet Özgür | BAŞYİĞİT, Sebahat | UZMAN, Metin | ASILTÜRK, Zeliha | TANRIKULU, Yusuf | NAZLIGÜL, Yaşar

Introduction: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is common throughout the world. Ghrelin and leptin peptides play a crucial role in the homeostasis of the human body. Previously, some studies showed that H. pylori colonization had been associated with circulating leptin and ghrelin levels, but the certain relationship is still uncertain. The goal of this study is to determine the effects of H. pylori infection on serum ghrelin and leptin levels and how these relates to body weight changes before and after H. pylori eradication. Materials and methods: This study prospectively enrolled 12 ...Daha fazlası

Higher harmonic flow coefficients of identified hadrons in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The elliptic, triangular, quadrangular and pentagonal anisotropic flow coeffi- cients for π±, K± and p+p in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV were measured with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results were obtained with the Scalar Product method, correlating the identified hadrons with reference particles from a different pseudorapidity region. Effects not related to the common event symmetry planes (non-flow) were estimated using correlations in pp collisions and were subtracted from the measure- ment. The obtained flow coefficients exhibit a clear mass ordering for tra ...Daha fazlası

Quality function deployment: An application on determining the quality factors in higher education

GÜNDÜZ, Mehmet Akif

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a method developed in the 1970’s in Japan by Dr. Yoji Akao and with later contributions of Shigeru Mizuno. QFD is adopted all over the world following a number of successful applications in Japan and has been applied very widely until today. This term has been translated to English as "Quality Function Deployment" from original Japanese name "Ten Kai Hin Shits Ki No". The most basic purpose of QFD is to design the functions which product performs according to the needs and requirements of customers. The aim of this study is to apply QFD in a university in T ...Daha fazlası

The Effect of Hypnosis on Systolic Blood Pressure

SUNAR, Füsun | SOLAK GÖRMÜŞ, Zülfikare Işık

Hypnosis is frequently used in numerous fields of complementary medical treatments. Blood pressure is an important vital sign. The changes manifest itself with hypo/ hypertension. Hypertension is a common and important health problem in society. Our aim is to evaluate the effect of hypnosis on blood pressure in healthy volunteers and to make a preliminary study for treatment of hypertensive patients. Healthy twelve volunteers, six women and six men, aged between 18 - 65 years were included after getting ethical permits and consent. The room selected for hypnosis was quiet and room temperature ...Daha fazlası
