Kontralateral verilen geniş band gürültü medial olivocochlear nöronları uyarır ve ipsilateral dış tüy hücrelerinin elektromotilitesi üzerinde inhibitör etkiye neden olarak transient uyarılmış otoakustik emisyon (TEOAE) amplitüdlerinde azalma meydana getirir ve TEOAE kontralateral supresyonu olarak adlandırılır.
