Aim: Radiation-induced lung injury (RILI) is a major dose-limiting factor during thoracic irradiation. Imiquimod (Imq) is a heterocyclic amine that has been shown to be effective in diseases related to inflammation and fibrosis. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the impact of Imiquimod on RILI. Material and Method: The study included 60 adult female Wistar-Albino rats (250-300 g). A 35-year-old male was admitted to our Emergency Department with chest pain and hoarseness lasting for a month. A well-defined 58x36x34 mm mass located in the left posterior mediastinum with cervical extension was found on radiological imaging. It was completely excised with transversal cervicotomy and left-sided video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. Schwannomas originating from the intrathoracic vagus nerve are extremely rare.
