J/ψ suppression at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The inclusive J/ψ production has been studied in Pb–Pb and pp collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair √sNN = 5.02 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The J/ψ meson is reconstructed, in the centre-of-mass rapidity interval 2.5 < y < 4 and in the transverse-momentum range pT < 12 GeV/c, via its decay to a muon pair. In this Letter, we present results on the inclusive J/ψ cross section in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV and on the nuclear modification factor RAA. The latter is presented as a function of the centrality of the collision and, for central collisions, as a f ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of charged jet suppression in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

A measurement of the transverse momentum spectra of jets in Pb–Pb col- lisions at √sNN = 2.76TeV is reported. Jets are reconstructed from charged particles using the anti-kT jet algorithm with jet resolution parameters R of 0.2 and 0.3 in pseudo- rapidity |η| < 0.5. The transverse momentum pT of charged particles is measured down to 0.15 GeV/c which gives access to the low pT fragments of the jet. Jets found in heavy-ion collisions are corrected event-by-event for average background density and on an inclusive basis (via unfolding) for residual background fluctuations and detector effects. A s ...Daha fazlası

First measurement of jet mass in Pb–Pb and p–Pb collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This letter presents the first measurement of jet mass in Pb–Pb and p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV and √sNN = 5.02 TeV, respectively. Both the jet energy and the jet mass are expected to be sensitive to jet quenching in the hot Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) matter created in nuclear collisions at collider energies. Jets are reconstructed from charged particles using the anti-kT jet algorithm and resolution parameter R = 0.4. The jets are measured in the pseudorapidity range |ηjet | < 0.5 and in three intervals of transverse momentum between 60 GeV/c and 120 GeV/c. The measurement of the jet ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of the inclusive J/ψ polarization at forward rapidity in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on the measurement of the inclusive J/ψ polarization parameters in pp collisions at a center of mass energy √s = 8 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.23 pb−1. J/ψ resonances are reconstructed in their di-muon decay channel in the rapidity interval 2.5 < y < 4.0 and over the transverse-momentum interval 2 < pT < 15 GeV/c. The three polarization param- eters (λθ , λφ , λθ φ ) are measured as a function of pT both in the helicity and Collins-Soper reference frames. The mea- sured J/ψ polarization ...Daha fazlası

Inclusive J/ψ production in Xe–Xe collisions at √sNN = 5.44 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Inclusive J/ψ production is studied in Xe–Xe interactions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN = 5.44 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The J/ψ meson is reconstructed via its decay into a muon pair, in the centre-of-mass rapidity interval 2.5 < y < 4 and down to zero transverse momentum. In this Letter, the nuclear modification factors RAA for inclusive J/ψ, measured in the centrality range 0–90% as well as in the centrality intervals 0–20% and 20–90% are presented. The RAA values are compared to previously published results for Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV a ...Daha fazlası

Study of cosmic ray events with high muon multiplicity using the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

ALICE is one of four large experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider near Geneva, specially designed to study particle production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion colli- sions. Located 52 meters underground with 28 meters of overburden rock, it has also been used to detect muons produced by cosmic ray interactions in the upper atmosphere. In this paper, we present the multiplicity distribution of these atmospheric muons and its compari- son with Monte Carlo simulations. This analysis exploits the large size and excellent tracking capability of the ALICE Time Projection Chamber. A special em ...Daha fazlası

Study of the Λ–Λ interaction with femtoscopy correlations in and p–Pb collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This work presents new constraints on the existence and the binding energy of a possible Λ-Λ bound state, the H-dibaryon, derived from Λ-Λ femtoscopic measurements by the ALICE collaboration. The results are obtained from a new measurement using the femtoscopy technique in pp collisions at s√=13 TeV and p-Pb collisions at sNN‾‾‾‾√=5.02 TeV, combined with previously published results from p-Pb collisions at s√=7 TeV. The Λ-Λ scattering parameter space, spanned by the inverse scattering length f−10 and the effective range d0, is constrained by comparing the measured Λ-Λ correlation function with ...Daha fazlası

Power Aware Routing Protocols in Wireless Sensor Network

ALSULTAN, Mohammed | ÖZTOPRAK, Kasım | HASSANPOUR, Reza

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have gained importance with a rapid growth in their applications during the past decades. There has also been a rise in the need for energy-efficient and scalable routing along with the data aggregation protocols for the large scale deployments of sensor networks. The traditional routing algorithms suffer from drawbacks such as the presence of one hop long distance data transmissions, very large or very small clusters within a network at the same moment, over-accumulated energy consumption within the cluster-heads (CHs) etc. The lifetime of WSNs is also decrease ...Daha fazlası

The Effect of Sr Modification and Holding Time on Si Morphology and Mechanical Properties of ETIAL 195 Alloy

ULUDAĞ, Muhammet | GEMİ, Lokman | ERYILMAZ, Muhammed Raşit | DIŞPINAR, Derya

Hypereutectic Al-Si alloys are typically used in applications where wear resistance is required. The primary factor that determines the wear properties is the morphology of Si in these types of alloys. Pouring temperature is one of the ways to control Si size and shape. On the other hand, bifilm defects that may be present in the liquid can significantly alter the morphology of Si acting as a heterogeneous nucleant. Therefore in this work, castings were made at 800 degrees C with varying holding time and the effects of bifilm on the Si morphology was studied. Bifilm content was measured by Red ...Daha fazlası

Longitudinal asymmetry and its effect on pseudorapidity distributions in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

First results on the longitudinal asymmetry and its effect on the pseudorapidity distributions in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider are obtained with the ALICE detector. The longitudinal asymmetry arises because of an unequal number of participating nucleons from the two colliding nuclei, and is estimated for each event by measuring the energy in the forward neutron-Zero- Degree-Calorimeters (ZNs). The effect of the longitudinal asymmetry is measured on the pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles in the regions |η| < 0.9, 2.8 < η < 5.1 and −3.7 < η < −1 ...Daha fazlası
