Aim: The development of calixarene based phenol biosensor. Methods: This study describes the application of a calixarene derivative, 5,17-diamino-25,27-bis(3-thiol-1-oxypropane)-26,28-dihydroxycalix[4]arene (HS-Calix-NH2) which has both amino and thiol functionalities, in the practical surface modifications for biomolecule binding. The structure of HS-Calix-NH2 allows easy inter-action with Au surface and one-step biomolecule immo-bilization. Enzyme technology has received great attention with improvements in biological remediation techniques. Enzyme-based biosensors can qualify as a measuring system as they permit the detection of biological events by detecting biochemical changes in biological processes. Advantages of biosensors are identification of even small quantities, cost effectiveness, and requirement of less power and less volume for identifying a wide linear range for usage [1]. Moreover, biosensors have high sensitivity, selectivity, and good response time for different kinds of applications.

This paper presents the plasma polymerization of poly(hexa fl uorobutyl acrylate)(PHFBA) thin fi lms on different substrates in an RF plasma reactor with an outer planar electrode. This reactor con fi guration allows large area uniformity and fast processing times. Deposition rates of up to 60 nm min−1 were observed. The in fl uence of plasma power and substrate temperature on the deposition rate, structure and wettability of the as-deposited fi lms was investigated.
