Özet
The stoma is a common surgical invasive procedure to be used in neonatal due to reasons such as anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung disease, bowel atresia, volvulus, meconium peritonitis (Bhat et al 2016). The stoma is a surgical application having a higher rate of complications despite all the measures to be taken. The peristomal skin complications are very frequent. The skin complications and other symptoms cause longer treatment processes, labour loss and increase in costs. Despite the application of the stoma in various age groups, there are particularly application problems in neonates. The stoma care is especially affected by the size of the product to be used. In this case, the application of the stoma case in a neonate was considered. It was seen that the stoma bag adaptor had been excessively big and tough during the stoma care. The adaptor was used since there is not any alternative product. However, it was observed that it separated from the skin by itself due to improper features. Thus, the hydrocolloid dress was cut and shaped according to the size of the ileostomy and the bag and it was used as the adaptor. There was no stools leakage to the skin, so there was also no neonate skin infection and irrigations risk because of the stool contact causing infections easily in neonates. During the performance of the skin care and for the replacement of the adaptor, it was easily separated from the skin without requiring alcohol and causing irritation, as it was observed.
