Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin, Anne Sütü Bankacılığı Hakkındaki Görüşlerinin Değerlendirilmesi
Abstract
Introduction: Word Health Organization recommended that maternal breastfeeding should be supported and encouraged to breastfeeding banks as the first choice before using formula for at least preterm or sick infants.
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge and opinions of nursing students who are the future nurses about breast milk banks.
Methods: This research is a descriptive study. The sample of the research contains 401 nursing students who continue their education in the spring semester of 2018- 2019 education in the Faculty of Nursing of a university in Konya and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected by a questionnaire that was prepared by the researchers. The data obtained from the research were analyzed in computer. For data analysis, number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were given in the descriptive statistics
Results: 46.9% of students support the establishment of human milk banks in Turkey. However, it was determined that the reliability of the milk in the breast milk bank (%67,2), the recommendation to buy milk from the breast milk bank (%43,6), donations to the breast milk bank (%39,2) and the donor milk to their own baby were determined (%41,6) to be undecided.
Conclusions: Although the students supported the establishment of a breast milk bank, they were found to be indecisive in many respects.
Recommendations: In line with the results of the study, it may be suggested that this subject can be added to the curriculum of nursing schools.
