The Impact Of Paris Agreement on Turkish Coal Power Project Developments

UYANIK, Sırrı | ALTÜRK, Orhan

EuraCoal, a European mining industry lobby group, estimates that Turkey has around 1.3 billion tonnes of hard coal and 11.5 billion tonnes of lignite resources, of which 0.5 billion tonnes and 9.8 billion tonnes respectively are proven reserves. As worldwide populations and industrial growth reach new heights, electricity demand is projected to increase substantially. Fossil fuels, particularly coal, will continue to be a vital energy source for the power sector in many countries. At the same time, fossil fuel fired power generation is one of the largest sources of global CO2 emissions. High-e ...Daha fazlası

Optimal Residential Load Control Comparison Using Linear Programming and Simulated Annealing for Energy Scheduling

GÜLER, Emre | BAŞARAN FİLİK, Ümmühan

Many tariffs are used for electricity pricing. Electricity bills can be reduced by choosing the optimal working hours of appliances and for appropriate tariffs in smart homes. In this study, Linear Programming (LP) and Simulated Annealing (SA) methods are realized and compared each other to find minimum bill. The multi-time tariffs that have different energy unit prices at different times of the day are preferred. Energy Management System (EMS) shifts time slots of some appliances to cheap energy unit prices. Optimal load control is applied to prevent high peak demand because there may be over ...Daha fazlası

Energy Supply Chain and Energy Security

ÖZKAN NESİMİOĞLU, Şerife

Energy Supply Chain and Energy Security Şerife Özkan Nesimioğlu Correspondence: serife.ozkan.nesimioglu@karatay.edu.tr In general, supply chain security is a prominent part of energy security, which is defined as “uninterrupted availability of energy sources at an affordable price” by International Energy Agency (IEA). In more detail, energy security can be separated into two sub-definitions as short and long- term energy security. Short term energy security focuses on the ability of the energy system to react promptly to sudden changes in the supply- demand balance. Here, sudden changes refer ...Daha fazlası

Import Dependency And Seeking For New Energy Technologies European Union Case

ÖZKAN NESİMİOĞLU, Şerife

In this paper, energy poverty and as a result of this energy import dependency and its possible negative results have been examined by taking European Union (EU) into consideration. This analysis has two aims: the first one is questioning the European Unions’ energy security from supply perspective and the second one is investigating the solutions produced by European Union to get away or at least to reduce its energy import dependency. To guarantee its energy supply security at affordable price and to attain its targets about energy security, some action plans has been being put into practice ...Daha fazlası

Biogas Potential Of Ereğli City

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem

Turkey's growth and development goals mean that its energy need will increase rapidly in proportion to its growth. Meeting the increasing energy need from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas causes the depletion of natural resources. Another problem is that the increase in energy demand is increasingly met with imports. The solution of this problem is to diversify the energy supply with renewable energy sources. Biogas is one of the renewable energy sources. Biogas potential of Ereğli District was revealed in this study.

Utilization of Waste for Energy Generation in Clinker Production: Environmental Perspective

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem

Meeting the increasing energy need from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas caused the rapid depletion of natural resources. In a world where the need for energy is constantly increasing and resources are getting scarce, it is necessary to ensure the sustainability of energy. Clinker production is a process which require high amount of energy in manufacturing industry. The fact that energy is mostly obtained from coal, which is a non-renewable fuel, puts the future of the sustainability of cement production at risk. Alternative fuel usage plays the most important role in achieving m ...Daha fazlası

Use Of Marble Waste As Alternative Raw Material For Sustainable Cement Production

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem

The materials which have the property of hardening and bonding the materials around it in the reaction with water are called "Hydraulic Binder". Cement; it is a water-insoluble hydraulic binder which subsequently hardens with water and air. The increase of the world population, the widespread of reinforced concrete construction, improvement of construction techniques increases the need of cement every day. The cement manufacturing sector is at the forefront of natural raw materials-intensive sectors. Raw materials containing silicon, aluminum, calcium and iron-oxide are used in cement producti ...Daha fazlası

Using Of Pumice And Corbonification Sludge For Sustainable Agriculture

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem | KARAKAPLAN, Saim

The recovery of wastewater sludge in agriculture is an opportunity for minimization of waste. Sustainable production approach will be provided by using sugar wastes in agriculture. The aim of this study is to research the effects of sugar industry sludge and pumice on soil properties and the plant growth characteristics as a soil conditioner. For this purpose, a greenhouse experiment was conducted on the soil samples taken from three different locations in Konya where the corn is a primary crop grown. The experiment was established in randomized plots experimental design with three replication ...Daha fazlası

Kompost ve Biyogaz Tesisleri Alanında Konya Sinerjisi

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem | BAŞTAN, Erdal

Storage of livestock waste on inappropriate conditions; creating visual pollution and various gases resulting from waste stack affect the air quality of the region negatively. Uncontrolled landfilling of waste threatens human and environmental health, as it destroys both the soil and groundwater since it destroys the biological structure of the soil. It is necessary to get rid of the contradiction of evaluating organic waste, important source of energy and fertilizer, when environmental problems caused by organic waste and external dependence on energy and chemical fertilizer are taken into co ...Daha fazlası

The Use Of Sugar Factory Sludge As Alternative Raw Materıal For Sustainable Cement Producing With Industrial Symbiosis

TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem

Construction increases in parallel with the population growth and development in the world. The expansion of the reinforced concrete construction system and the rapid development of its techniques have been increasing the need for cement, which is the most important component of concrete, day by day. Cement industry is the leading-sector among the sectors where natural resources are most used. The scarcity of natural resource is the one of the biggest obstacles in the industry. During sugar production, unwanted substances present in the raw sugar are precipitated with lime milk [Ca(OH)2] and C ...Daha fazlası

Short-Term Prediction of PM2. 5 Pollution with Deep Learning Methods

AYTURAN, Yasin Akın | AYTURAN, Zeynep Cansu | ALTUN, Hüseyin Oktay | KONGOLİ, Cezar | TUNÇEZ, Fatma Didem | DURSUN, Şükrü | ÖZTÜRK, Ali

Particulate matter (PM), classified according to aerodynamic diameter, is one of the harmful pollutants causing health damaging effects. It is considered as cancerogenic by the World Health Organization (WHO) because of the substances found in the chemical composition of PM. In this study, short-term prediction of PM2.5 pollution at 1, 2 and 3 hours was modelled using deep learning methods. Three deep learning algorithms and the combination thereof were evaluated: Long-short term memory units (LSTM), recurrent neural networks (RNN) and gated recurrent unit (GRU). Air Quality Monitoring Station ...Daha fazlası
