The aim of this study is to determine the situations of academics and courses in recreation mana‐gement departments, which the student admission has been made, regarding with the field of recre‐ation. The study was conducted in the “case study model” of qualitative research designs. In order to analyze this situation numerically, “document analysis” method was used. The data related to the study has been obtained from the web pages of universities, web page namely Council of Higher Education Academic Search (YÖK Academic) and 2018 Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide in the website of Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The data were analyzed by using the Excell and Voyant Tools software programs with descriptive analysis and content analysis methods. According to the findings of the study, in five of 27 tourism faculties, student admission has been active since 2015. It was found that only 4% of the faculty members in the recreation management departments were experts in the field of recreation and 36% of the courses in the recreation management department were related to the field of recreation. The fin‐dings were evaluated comparatively with the other studies in the literature and some suggestions were made for the field of recreation management and future studies.
