GÜLBAHÇE MUTLU, Elif | BALTACI, Saltuk Buğra | MOĞULKOÇ, Rasim | BALTACI, Abdülkerim Kasım

The aim of the present was study determine the effect of zinc and melatonin supplementation on lipid peroxidation of various tissues in female rats with breast cancer induced by DMBA (7,12- Dimethylbenz[a]anthracene). Total 42 Wistar albino female rats were equally separated 5 groups. Group 1 control, Group 2 DMBA control, Group 3 DMBA+Zinc, Group 4 DMBA + Melatonin, Group 5 DMBA+Zinc+Melatonin. Lung, liver, spleen, pancreas and kidney tissue of rats were examined for MDA and GSH by spectrophotometric. The highest lung, liver, spleen, pancreas and kidney MDA levels were determined in group 2 ( ...Daha fazlası

ABSTRACT: The aim of the present was study determine the effects of zinc and melatonin on brain tissue (cortex) lipid peroxidation in rats with breast cancer induced by DMBA (7,12-Dimethylbenz[a]anthracene). Total 42 female wistar rats which was just weaned from milk equally separated 5 groups. Group 1 control, Group 2 DMBA control, Group 3 DMBA+ Zinc, Group 4 DMBA + Melatonin, Group 5 DMBA + Zinc +Melatonin. To induce breast cancer 80 mg/kg DMBA was given by gavage in colza oil (except group 1). Zinc and melatonin were supplemented as 5 mg/kg/day for 4 weeks. Brain tissue samples (cortex) wer ...Daha fazlası

The Effect of Melatonin and Zinc Application in Rats Induced Mammary Carcinoma with DMBA on Lipid Peroxidation

GÜLBAHÇE MUTLU, Elif | MENEVŞE, Esma | BALTACI, Abdülkerim Kasım | MOĞULKOÇ, Rasim

Mammary cancer, which is the second most common cause of cancer deaths, is one of the problems of global public health. It is argued that anti estrogenic agents such as melatonin will lead to a new aspect in treatment of breast cancer. In addition, zinc, which plays a crucial role in the etiology of cancer, is vital for many cellular processes, and an important trace mineral. Trace elements are regarded as multiple anti-cancer agents that regulate various biological mechanisms. METHODS: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of melatonin and zinc application on lipid peroxidati ...Daha fazlası

The Effect of Zinc and Melatonin Administration on Lipid Peroxidation, IL-6 Levels, and Element Metabolism in DMBA-Induced Breast Cancer in Rats

GÜLBAHÇE MUTLU, Elif | BALTACI, Saltuk Buğra | MENEVŞE, Esma | MOĞULKOÇ, Rasim | BALTACI, Abdülkerim Kasım

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of zinc and melatonin administration on interleukin-6, lipid peroxidation parameters, and element metabolism in DMBA-induced breast cancer in female rats. A total of 42 recently weaned Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups as follows: control (group 1),DMBA control (group 2),DMBA + zinc (group 3), DMBA + melatonin (group 4), and DMBA + melatonin and zinc (group 5). Malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) levels in breast tissue and blood samples were determined via spectrophotometric methods. In addition, iron, magnesium, zinc, and ...Daha fazlası

Roles of the lipid peroxidation by-product 4-hydroxynonenal and reductive power in metabolic syndrome

KAYA, Turgut | BABA, Burcu | BERBEROĞLU, Hatice Tuğçe | ÖZTÜRK, Bahadır | KIRAÇ, Cem | HACIŞEVKİ, Onur Aysun

The metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of three or more risk factors which include high triglycerides, abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, low HDL, and increased fasting blood glucose. The increase in the prevalence of MetS has been recognized as a public health concern in worldwide. Oxidative stress that has been defined as an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants in favour of the oxidants, has been associated to metabolic alterations such as metabolic syndrome. 4-Hydroxynonenal (HNE) which results from oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acyl chains, is one of ...Daha fazlası
