Comparison of Immunoassay and Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry Methods in the Measurement of Serum Androstenedione Levels.

YÜCEL, Kamile | ABUŞOĞLU, Sedat | ÜNLÜ, Ali

Abstract BACKGROUND: Recent reports have described inherent problems with androgen immunoassays compared with mass spectrometry analyses. In this study, a new liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed according to CLSI rules. The developed method was compared with two immunoassay methods, the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and radioimmunoassay (RIA). METHODS: After liquid-liquid extraction, a Shimadzu Prominence LC unit coupled to an ABSCIEX API 3200 mass spectrometer with atmospheric pressure chemical ionization was used to quantify serum andros ...Daha fazlası

Comparison of decision-making approaches to prioritization of clean air action plans for sustainable development

ÇALIK, Ahmet

Background: Clean air action plans have been prepared and are still being implemented in Turkey to control and prevent air pollution, and improve the air quality. The plans reveal a picture of the current situation and available inventory information. However, in order to implement the identified plans in real life, they need to be prioritized. This study aimed to identify and prioritize clean air action plans for Turkey using a framework of both fuzzy and crisp evaluations. Methods: In this study, priorities of the plans were identified and analyzed with a decision-making model. A three-step ...Daha fazlası

Detection of Extracellular Lipases and Genotypic Identification from Yeast Causing Spoilage of Some Dairy Products Produced in Gaziantep

TOKAK, Semih | KILIÇ, İbrahim Halil | YALÇIN, Hüsniye Tansel | DURAN, Tuğçe

Yeasts are usually found in high amounts in dairy products, which show their ability to adapt to substrates rich in protein, lipid. sugar and organic acids. A wide distribution of yeast in dairy products is a result of proteolytic and lipolytic is activities. Spoilage yeasts and molds can grow in most. processed and raw limits. where environmental conditions are not suitable for most bacteria (low pH low water activity, aw). Nutrients and oxygen in food are the main factors that determine the type of fungal spoilage. In this study, dairy products samples (yoghurt, cream. butter, curd cheese. A ...Daha fazlası

Crystallized phenol for sacral hidradenitis suppurativa

TURAN, Ersin | DOĞRU, Osman | KARGIN, Süleyman | KERİMOĞLU, Ramazan Saygın | NAZİK, Emet Ebru

Objective: Multiple treatment options for hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) have been suggested; none 100% successful. We assessed crystallized phenol treatment (CPT) for sacral HS. Methods: Twenty-five patients with sacral HS were enrolled. HS severity was assessed by Hurley Score and HS-Physician's Global Assessment (HS-PGA). All the leaking openings were dilated by a thin mosquito clamp after local anesthesia. Any hair present was removed, and phenol was applied. Results: Patients were followed-up for a mean 36.8 months. The mean number of CPT application was 3.98. After CPT mean Hurley score d ...Daha fazlası

Decode-and-forward relaying based on orthogonal complementary codes

KIZILIRMAK, Refik Çağlar

In this note, we propose a full-duplex decode-and-forward cooperative diversity scheme based on code division with orthogonal complementary codes. We consider a simple case in which a single user is assisted by a single relay to achieve cooperative diversity. When the cooperation is full-duplex, the operational delay of the relay makes the channel asynchronous and this may cause multiple-access interference (MAI) between the user and relay. The orthogonal complementary codes have perfect autocorrelation and cross-correlation properties that provide MAI-free operation in asynchronous channels. ...Daha fazlası

Effective 3D Surface Modeling for Geographic Information Systems

MENDİ, Engin | ALPARSLAN, Mesut | YÜKSEK, Kemal

Abstract. In this work, we propose a dynamic, flexible and interactive urban digital terrain platform with spatial data and query processing capabilities of geographic information systems, multimedia database functionality and graphical modeling infrastructure. A new data element, called Geo-Node, which stores image, spatial data and 3-D CAD objects is developed using an efficient data structure. The system effectively handles data transfer of Geo-Nodes between main memory and secondary storage with an optimized directional replacement policy (DRP) based buffer management scheme. Polyhedron st ...Daha fazlası

Effect of Bentonite, Fly Ash and Silica Fume cement injections on uniaxial compressive strength of granular bases

TAN, Özcan | GÜNGÖRMÜŞ, Gökhan | ZAİMOĞLU, Ahmet Şahin

Injection is one of the methods to improve the engineering properties of bases. Various additions as well as cement are used for preparations of injection blends in order to lower costs and reach better results. For this purpose in the preparation of the injection blends, Bentonite (B), Fly Ash (FA) and Silica Fume (SF) were used at the ratios of 0-0.5-1-3%, 10-20-30-40% and 0-5-10-20%, respectively. Taguchi method was applied for the experiment and L16 Orthogonal (OA) with three factors and four levels were chosen. Granular bases having 0.70 relative density was settled into a cylindrical mol ...Daha fazlası

Effect of Degassing and Grain Refinement on Hot Tearing Tendency in Al8Si3Cu Alloy

ULUDAĞ, Muhammet | ÇETİN, Remzi | DIŞPINAR, Derya | TİRYAKİOĞLU, Murat

The effect of melt quality on hot tearing susceptibility of Al8Si3Cu alloy was examined under six different conditions, by using a traditional T-shaped mold. Grain refinement was carried out by two different modifiers: AlTi5B1 and Al3B. For each test, samples were cast before and after degassing of melt. Therefore, a new hot tearing tendency index was developed by both bifilm calculations and porosity that occurred in the middle of T-zone of casting parts. Results indicated that hot tearing of cast aluminum alloys was a complex phenomenon, and bifilms play a major role, especially by compensat ...Daha fazlası

Effects Of Fentanyl On Pancreatic Cancer Cell Proliferation And Cancer Stem Cell Differentiation

ÇELİK, Feyzi | DURAN, Tuğçe

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive cancer due to the late diagnosis and failure to respond to the treatment despite advances in tumor biology and the development of new cancer therapeutic strategies. It has been reported that these characteristics of pancreatic cancer originate from cancer stem cells within the tumor mass. It has also been reported that Fentanyl is a fast-acting analgesic that binds to the mu-opioid receptors and some other mu-opioid receptors are involved in this cancer process. In this study, we determined the effect of Fentanyl on PANC-1 cells, by assessing the ...Daha fazlası

Analysis Of The Apparent Nuclear Modification İn Peripheral Pb-Pb Collisions At 5.02 Tev

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Charged-particle spectra at midrapidity are measured in Pb–Pb collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon pair TeV and presented in centrality classes ranging from most central (0–5%) to most peripheral (95–100%) collisions.
