A Short Survey of Linked Data Ranking

YUMUŞAK, Semih | DOĞDU, Erdoğan | KODAZ, Halife

Linked data systems are still far from maturity. Hence, the basic principles are still open for discussion. In our study on building a novel linked data search engine, we have surveyed fundamental methods of internet search technologies in the context of linked data crawling, indexing, ranking, and monitoring. The scope of this ranking survey covers linked data related statistical ranking, database ranking, document level ranking, and Web ranking techniques. In order to classify the linked data ranking methods, we identified a number of categories. These categories are ontology ranking, RDF ra ...Daha fazlası

A Data-Model Driven Web Application Development Framework

DOĞDU, Erdoğan | HAKİMOV, Sherzod | YUMUŞAK, Semih

Model-driven approach for web application development is an important topic in software engineering. There are many existing tools to support model-driven engineering for web application development. However, most tools and techniques are complex and not very practical when it comes to real-life usage. Here we present a simple data model-driven approach for web application development that is based on RDF data model, the basic semantic Web data model, and its reasoning capabilities. We introduce a prototype implementation of the data model-driven Web application development framework that util ...Daha fazlası

Advanced-Collision-Map-Based On-line Collision and Deadloack Avoidance between Two Robot Manipulators with PTP Commands

AFAGHANI, Ahmad Yasser

This research aims to build an on-line system for avoiding collisions and deadlocks between two robot manipulators which are controlled using point-to-point (PTP) commands. Both robots are sharing the same workspace and have no prior knowledge of the commands which will be sent after starting the system. We have proposed a collision map concept for detecting the collisions between the end-effectors of the robots [1]. In this work, an advanced collision map method has been created for detecting the collisions between the whole body of the robots and representing them as collision areas on the m ...Daha fazlası

Relay-assisted OFDM transmission for indoor visible light communication

KIZILIRMAK, Refik Çağlar | UYSAL, Murat

In this study, we investigate a relay-assisted visible light communication (VLC) system where an intermediate light source cooperates with the main light source. Specifically, we consider two light sources in an office space; one is the information source employed on the ceiling and the other one is a task light mounted on a desk. Our system builds upon DC biased optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM). The task light performs amplify-and-forward relaying to assist the communication and operates in half-duplex mode. We investigate the error rate performance of the propose ...Daha fazlası

A Novel Microwave Coaxial Slot Antenna for Liver Tumor Ablation

AÇIKGÖZ, Hulusi | TÜRER, İbrahim

This paper is on the effect of a T-ring shape structure to enhance the capability of a microwave coaxial slot antenna (MCA) in the treatment of liver cancer. The MCA is composed of an interstitial coaxial line that is enclosed in a catheter. The T-ring shape structure is wrapped on the outer conductor of the MCA. Thanks to the new structure, the backward heating problem appearing in many coaxial antennas is reduced and the generated heat in front of the slot is higher than those for a classical MCA. © 2014, Tarbiat Modares University. Effect of Bentonite, Fly Ash and Silica Fume cement injections on uniaxial compressive strength of granular bases

TAN, Özcan | GÜNGÖRMÜŞ, Gökhan | ZAİMOĞLU, Ahmet Şahin

Injection is one of the methods to improve the engineering properties of bases. Various additions as well as cement are used for preparations of injection blends in order to lower costs and reach better results. For this purpose in the preparation of the injection blends, Bentonite (B), Fly Ash (FA) and Silica Fume (SF) were used at the ratios of 0-0.5-1-3%, 10-20-30-40% and 0-5-10-20%, respectively. Taguchi method was applied for the experiment and L16 Orthogonal (OA) with three factors and four levels were chosen. Granular bases having 0.70 relative density was settled into a cylindrical mol ...Daha fazlası

Production of hadronic resonances at LHC energies with the ALICE experiment

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Hadronic resonances are strongly decaying particles with extremely short lifetimes of about few fm/c, which are comparable to or smaller than the lifetime of the system formed in relativistic collisions. Due to their short lifetimes, resonance particles can be used to investigate the freeze-out mechanisms after hadronization. This contribution summarizes the results of resonance particle productions measured by the ALICE collaboration at LHC from various colliding systems and energies. Measured mass, width, transverse momentum and particle ratios of those resonances have been reported. Theoret ...Daha fazlası

Theoretical investigation of a structure for active vibration control with fuzzy logic approach

GÜLBAHÇE, Erdi | ÇELİK, Mehmet | TINKIR, Mustafa

The main purpose of this study is to prepare mathematical model for active vibration control of a structure. This paper presents the numerical and experimental modal analysis of aluminum cantilever beam in order to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the structure. The results will be used for active vibration control of structure's experimental setup. Experimental natural frequencies are obtained and compared to verify the proposed numerical model by using modal analysis results. MATLAB System Identification Toolbox and ANSYS harmonic response function are used together to estimate bea ...Daha fazlası

Turkish Sign Language Animation with Motion Capture

SÖYLEV, Arda | MENDİ, Engin

In this paper, using motion capture, we study on Turkish Sign Language Animation. A markerless system, Microsoft Kinect sensor and a professional optical system are compared. Besides, we use the motion capture data in two different approaches; data driven and real time. To animate the sign language, we merge the motion capture output with a cartoon character. In the first approach, which is data-driven, motion capture data is recorded, processed and converted to a character animation off-line. This data is stored in a database and it can be used in mobile devices or any other necessary ways. R ...Daha fazlası

Shock failure analysis of metallic structures by using strain energy density method

ÇELİK, Mehmet | MERCİMEK, Ümit | KADIOĞLU, Suat

Failure of metallic structures operating under shock loading is a common occurrence in engineering applications. It is difficult to estimate the response of complicated systems analytically, due to structure's dynamic characteristics and varying loadings. Therefore, experimental, numerical, or a combination of both methods is used for evaluations. In this study, test pieces made of two different materials are subjected to shock loads stemming from firing of a Gatling gun. Strain measurements are made, and finite element analysis of the test piece is performed. As a result of this study, strain ...Daha fazlası

Suppression of Υ (1S) at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on the measurement of the inclusive Υ (1S) production in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV carried out at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) and down to zero transverse momentum using its μ+μ− decay channel with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A strong suppression of the inclusive Υ(1S) yield is observed with respect to pp collisions scaled by the number of independent nucleon– nucleon collisions. The nuclear modification factor, for events in the 0–90% centrality range, amounts to 0.30 ± 0.05(stat) ± 0.04(syst). The observed Υ (1S) suppression tends to increase with t ...Daha fazlası

Multiplicity dependence of jet-like two-particle correlation structures in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Two-particle angular correlations between unidentified charged trigger and associated particles are measured by the ALICE detector in p–Pb collisions at a nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. The transverse-momentum range 0.7 < pT,assoc < pT,trig < 5.0 GeV/c is examined, to include correlations induced by jets originating from low momentum-transfer scatterings (minijets). The correlations expressed as associated yield per trigger particle are obtained in the pseudorapidity range |η| < 0.9. The near-side long-range pseudorapidity correlations observed in high-multiplicity p–Pb col ...Daha fazlası
