The ALICE collaboration has measured the electroweak boson production at forward rapidity in Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions at root S-NN = 5.02 TeV. Final results on the Z(0) boson production in Pb-Pb collisions are presented as a function of centrality and rapidity. Calculations based on free parton distribution functions overestimate the measurement up to 3 sigma. In addition, final results on W-+/- and Z(0) bosons production in p-Pb collisions at the same energy will be presented and discussed.
ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) is studying the physics of strongly interacting matter, and in particular the properties of the Quark–Gluon Plasma (QGP), using proton–proton, proton–nucleus and nucleus–nucleus collisions at the CERN LHC (Large Hadron Collider). The ALICE Collaboration is preparing a major upgrade of the experimental apparatus, planned for installation in the second long LHC shutdown in the years 2018–2019. A key element of the ALICE upgrade is the construction of a new, ultra-light, high-resolution Inner Tracking System (ITS) based on monolithic CMOS pixel detectors. T ...Daha fazlası
The ALICE Collaboration will undertake a major upgrade of the detector apparatus during the second LHC Long Shutdown LS2 (2019–2020) in view of the Runs 3 and 4 (2021–2029). The objective of the upgrade is two-fold: i) an improvement of the tracking precision and efficiency, in particular in the low-momentum range; ii) an improvement of the readout capabilities of the experiment, in order to fully exploit the luminosity for heavy ions envisaged after LS2. The first goal will be achieved by replacing the Inner Tracking System with a new tracker, composed of seven layers of silicon pixel detecto ...Daha fazlası
ALICE is the experiment specifically designed to study the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) in heavy-ion collisions at the CERN LHC. The ALICE detector will be upgraded during the Long Shutdown 2, planned for 2019-2020, in order to cope with the maximum interaction rate of 50 kHz of Pb-Pb collisions foreseen for Runs 3 and 4. The ambitious programme of high-precision measurements, expected for muon physics after 2020, requires an upgrade of the front-end and readout electronics of the existing Muon Spectrometer. This concerns the Cathode Pad Chambers (CPC) used for tracking and the Resistive Plate Cha ...Daha fazlası
Here we report the synthesis, characterization and application of calixarene (Calix) modified montmorillonite (Mt) as a platform for bio-applications such as biomolecule immobilization and biosensing technologies. This modification enhanced the biomolecule immobilization capability of Mt. Initially, amino-functionalised calixarenes (Calix-NH2) were synthesized and used as a modifier. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, zeta potential and thermal gravimetric analysis were performed to verify the modification of the clay minerals. For the biosensor construction, Calix-NH2 ...Daha fazlası

The oxide layer on liquid aluminum serves as a protective property to prevent the alloy from further oxidation. However, it has the potential to be a source of porosity when entrained into the bulk of the liquid. For this reason, oxides entrained into aluminum castings have been shown to degrade casting quality. In the current study, the effectiveness of the reduced pressure test in assessing the quality of A356 alloy melts has been investigated under various conditions obtained by changing six different melt parameters. Several metrics, including average pore size, number density of pores, bi ...Daha fazlası
We report on two-particle charge-dependent correlations in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions as a function of the pseudorapidity and azimuthal angle difference, Δη and Δφ respectively. These correlations are studied using the balance function that probes the charge creation time and the development of collectivity in the produced system. The dependence of the balance function on the event multiplicity as well as on the trigger and associated particle transverse momentum (pT) in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions at sNN−−−√=7, 5.02, and 2.76 TeV, respectively, are presented. In the low transverse mome ...Daha fazlası

Biomimetic binders and catalysts have been generated in order to substitute the biological pendants in separation techniques and bioanalysis. The two major approaches use either "evolution in the test tube" of nucleotides for the preparation of aptamers or total chemical synthesis for molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). The reproducible production of aptamers is a clear advantage, whilst the preparation of MIPs typically leads to a population of polymers with different binding sites. The realization of binding sites in the total bulk of the MIPs results in a higher binding capacity, however ...Daha fazlası

Herein, an electrochemical urea sensing bio-electrode is reported that has been constructed by fi rstly electropolymerizing 4-(2,5-Di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)aniline monomer (SNS-Aniline) on Pencil Graphite Electrode (PGE), then modifying the polymer coated electrode surface with di-amino-Ferrocene (DAFc) as the mediator, and lastly Urease enzyme through glutaraldehyde crosslinking. The e ff ect of pH, temperature, polymer thickness, and applied potential on the electrode current response was investigated besides performing storage and operational stability experiments with the interferenc ...Daha fazlası

Moreover, their extraction capabilities at different para ...Daha fazlası

Here, postfunctionalization and bioapplication of a π-conjugated polymer named 4-[4H-dithieno(3,2-b:2',3'-d)pyrrol-4-yl]aniline (DTP-aryl-NH2 ) are reported, which is successfully synthesized via electropolymerization onto the glassy carbon electrode. Folic acid (FA) is used to modify the amino functional polymer via N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N'-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride/N-hydroxysuccinimide chemistry for the further steps. The selective adhesion of folate receptor positive cells on the surface is followed by the electrochemical methods. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance s ...Daha fazlası
