Measurement of prompt D0, D+, D∗+, and D+s production in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The measurement of the production of prompt D0, D+, D∗+, and D+s mesons in proton–lead (p–Pb) collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN = 5.02 TeV, with an integrated luminosity of 292 ± 11 μb−1, are reported. Differential pro- duction cross sections are measured at mid-rapidity (−0.96 < ycms < 0.04) as a function of transverse momentum (pT) in the intervals 0 < pT < 36 GeV/c for D0, 1 < pT < 36 GeV/c for D+ and D∗+, and 2 < pT < 24GeV/c for D+s mesons. For each species, the nuclear modification factor RpPb is calculated as a function of pT using a proton-proton (pp) ref ...Daha fazlası

Λ+c production in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV and in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The pT-differential production cross section of prompt Λ+c charmed baryons was measured with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV and in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV at midrapidity. The Λ+c and Λ–c were reconstructed in the hadronic decay modes Λ+c → pK−π+, Λ+c → pK0S and in the semileptonic channel Λ+c → e+νeΛ (and charge conjugates). The measured values of the Λ+c /D0 ratio, which is sensitive to the c-quark hadronisation mechanism, and in particular to the production of baryons, are presented and are larger than those measured previously ...Daha fazlası

Differential studies of inclusive J/ψ and ψ(2S) production at forward rapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN =2.76TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of J/ψ and ψ(2S) was studied with the ALICE detector in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The measurement was performed at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) down to zero transverse momentum (pt) in the dimuon decay channel. Inclusive J/ψ yields were extracted in different centrality classes and the centrality dependence of the average pt is presented. The J/ψ suppression, quantified with the nuclear modification factor (RAA), was measured as a function of centrality, transverse momentum and rapidity. Comparisons with similar measurements at lower collision energy and theoretical models ...Daha fazlası

Production of muons from heavy-flavour hadron decays in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Production cross sections of muons from semi-leptonic decays of charm and beauty hadrons were measured at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy s = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The results were obtained in an extended transverse momentum interval, 2 < pT < 20 GeV/c, and with an improved precision compared to previous measurements performed in the same rapidity interval at centre-of-mass energies The pT- and y-differential production cross sections as well as the pT-differential production cross section ratios between dif ...Daha fazlası

Investigations of Anisotropic Flow Using Multiparticle Azimuthal Correlations in pp, p-Pb, Xe-Xe, and Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients (vn) and their cross-correlations using two- and multiparticle cumulant methods are reported in collisions of pp at √ s = 13 TeV, p–Pb at √sNN = 5.02 TeV, Xe–Xe at √sNN = 5.44 TeV, and Pb–Pb at √sNN = 5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. The multiplicity dependence of vn is studied in a very wide range from 20 to 3000 particles produced in the mid-rapidity region |η| < 0.8 for the transverse momentum range 0.2 < pT < 3.0 GeV/c. An ordering of the coefficients v2 > v3 > v4 is found in pp and p–Pb collisions, similar to that seen in large colli ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of transverse energy at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the transverse energy (ET) measured with ALICE at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV as a function of centrality. The transverse energy was measured using identified single-particle tracks. The measurement was cross checked using the electromagnetic calorimeters and the transverse momentum distributions of identified particles previously reported by ALICE. The results are compared to theoretical models as well as to results from other experiments. The mean ET per unit pseudorapidity (η), ⟨dET/dη⟩, in 0%–5% central collisions is 1737 ± 6(stat.) ± 97(sys.) GeV. We find ...Daha fazlası

Inclusive quarkonium production in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This article reports on the inclusive production cross section of several quarkonium states, J/ψ, ψ(2S), ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S), measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC, in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV. The analysis is performed in the dimuon decay channel at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4). The integrated cross sections and transverse-momentum (pT) and rapidity (y) differential cross sections for J/ψ, ψ(2S), ϒ(1S), and the ψ(2S)-to-J/ψ cross section ratios are presented. The integrated cross sections, assuming unpolarized quarkonia, are: σJ/ψ (pT < 20 GeV/c) = 5.88 ± 0.03 ± 0.34 μb, σψ( ...Daha fazlası

Suppression of Υ (1S) at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on the measurement of the inclusive Υ (1S) production in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV carried out at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) and down to zero transverse momentum using its μ+μ− decay channel with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A strong suppression of the inclusive Υ(1S) yield is observed with respect to pp collisions scaled by the number of independent nucleon– nucleon collisions. The nuclear modification factor, for events in the 0–90% centrality range, amounts to 0.30 ± 0.05(stat) ± 0.04(syst). The observed Υ (1S) suppression tends to increase with t ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of Z0-boson production at large rapidities in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of Z0 bosons at large rapidities in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV is reported. Z0 candidates are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel (Z0 → μ+ μ−), based on muons selected with pseudo-rapidity −4.0 < η < −2.5 and pT > 20 GeV/c. The invariant yield and the nuclear modification factor, RAA, are presented as a function of rapidity and collision centrality. The value of RAA for the 0–20% central Pb–Pb collisions is 0.67 ± 0.11 (stat.) ± 0.03 (syst.) ± 0.06 (corr. syst.), exhibiting a deviation of 2.6σ from unity. The results are well-described by calculations that include ...Daha fazlası

Insight into particle production mechanisms via angular correlations of identified particles in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Two-particle angular correlations were mea- sured in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV for pions, kaons, pro- tons, and lambdas, for all particle/anti-particle combinations in the pair. Data for mesons exhibit an expected peak domi- nated by effects associated with mini-jets and are well repro- duced by general purpose Monte Carlo generators. However, for baryon–baryon and anti-baryon–anti-baryon pairs, where both particles have the same baryon number, a near-side anti- correlation structure is observed instead of a peak. This effect is interpreted in the context of baryon production mecha- nisms in ...Daha fazlası

First study of the two-body scattering involving charm hadrons

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This article presents the first measurement of the interaction between charm hadrons and nucleons. The two-particle momentum correlations of pD− and pD¯ þ pairs are measured by the ALICE Collaboration in high-multiplicity pp collisions at ffiffi s p ¼ 13 TeV. The data are compatible with the Coulomb-only interaction hypothesis within ð1.1–1.5Þσ. The level of agreement slightly improves if an attractive nucleon ðNÞD strong interaction is considered, in contrast to most model predictions which suggest an overall ¯ repulsive interaction. This measurement allows for the first time an estimation of ...Daha fazlası

(Anti) Hypertriton lifetime measurement in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV via two-body decay

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV collected by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The (anti-)hypertriton has been reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel and the lifetime has been determined from an exponential fit to the dN/d(ct) spectrum. The measured value, τ = 242+34 (stat.) ± −38 17 (syst.) ps, is compatible with representative theoretical predictions, thus contributing to the solution of the longstanding hypertriton lifetime puzzle.
