A design of experiment approach of cattle slaughterhouse wastewater treatment by electrocoagulation method

ERYÜRÜK, Kağan | ERYÜRÜK, Şule | TEZCAN ÜN, Ümran | BAKIR ÖĞÜTVEREN, Ülker

The aim of this work was to formulate an empirical model using the data of the electrochemical treatment of cattle slaughterhouse wastewater. The empirical model was developed using response surface methodology with optimal design considering an irregular process space. As operational factors, current density, influent pH, flow rate, supporting electrolyte (NaCl or Na2SO4) concentrations, and H2O2 concentrations were examined. Under these circumstances, the aim was to represent the optimal region shown generally as a surface by obtaining the lowest possible value of chemical oxygen demand (COD ...Daha fazlası

GÖKOĞLAN, Tuğba Ceren | SÖYLEMEZ, Saniye | KESİK, Melis | ÜNAY, Hande | SAYIN, Serkan | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir | ÇIRPAN, Ali | TOPPARE, Levent

In this study, a novel amperometric glucose biosensor based on a selenium comprising conducting polymer and calixarene was developed. Firstly, poly(2-(2-octyldodecyl)-4,7-di(selenoph-2-yl)-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole), poly((SBTz)) was electrodeposited onto a graphite electrode by an electropolymerization technique. Then, a newly synthesized calixarene and gold nanoparticle (AuNP) mixture was used for the improvement of biosensor characteristics. GOx, as a model enzyme was immobilized on the modified electrode surface. The constructed surface serves as a sufficient immobilization platform for t ...Daha fazlası

Anisotropic flow of identified particles in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The elliptic (v2), triangular (v3), and quadrangular (v4) flow coefficients of π±, K±, p+p, Λ+Λ, K0S, and the φ-meson are measured in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. Results obtained with the scalar product method are reported for the rapidity range |y| < 0.5 as a function of transverse momentum, pT, at different collision centrality intervals between 0–70%, including ultra-central (0–1%) collisions for π±, K±, and p + p. For pT < 3 GeV/c, the flow coefficients exhibit a particle mass dependence. At intermediate transverse momenta (3 < pT < 8–10 GeV/c), particles show an approximate group ...Daha fazlası

Calixarene assembly with enhanced photocurrents using P(SNS-NH2)/CdS nanoparticle structure modified Au electrode systems

SAYIN, Serkan | AZAK, Hacer | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir | ÇAMURLU, Pınar | UYSAL AKKUŞ, Gülderen | TOPPARE, Lale | ERSÖZ, Mustafa

Two novel calix[n]arene-adorned gold electrodes producing high photocurrent intensities were successfully constructed by embedding gold electrode surfaces with both P(4-(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)benzenamine) conducting polymer and 4-mercaptoboronic acid-functionalized semiconductor CdS nanoparticles to facilitate the binding of calix[n]arene sulfonic acids with nanoparticles. This structure enabled an electron transfer cascade that both induced effective charge separation and efficiently generated photocurrent. The prepared electrodes were used to generate photocurrent by relying o ...Daha fazlası

Charge-dependent flow and the search for the chiral magnetic wave in Pb-Pbcollisionsat√sNN =2.76TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report on measurements of a charge-dependent flow using a novel three-particle correlator with ALICE in Pb-Pb collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and discuss the implications for observation of local parity violation and the chiral magnetic wave (CMW) in heavy-ion collisions. Charge-dependent flow is reported for different collision centralities as a function of the event charge asymmetry. While our results are in qualitative agreement with expectations based on the CMW, the nonzero signal observed in higher harmonics correlations indicates a possible significant background ...Daha fazlası

The ALICE Transition Radiation Detector: Construction, operation, and performance

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) was designed and built to enhance the capabilities of the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). While aimed at providing electron identification and triggering, the TRD also contributes significantly to the track reconstruction and calibration in the central barrel of ALICE. In this paper the design, construction, operation, and performance of this detector are discussed. A pion rejection factor of up to 410 is achieved at a momentum of 1 GeV/c in p-Pb collisions and the resolution at high transverse momentum improves by about 40% when inclu ...Daha fazlası

A 3D face animation system for mobile devices

MENDİ, Engin

In this paper, we present a 3D face animation system rendered on mobile devices. The system automatically creates realistic facial animation from text input with emotion tags. First, an input string is converted into synthetic voice and phonetic information. Then, 3D head model performs facial movements synchronized to the speech. The proposed system offers an affordable quick solution for applications that require virtual actors speaking text in which human-machine interfaces on mobile devices can profit.

Correlated Event-by-Event Fluctuations of Flow Harmonics in Pb-Pb Collisions at sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the measurements of correlations between event-by-event fluctuations of amplitudes of anisotropic flow harmonics in nucleus-nucleus collisions, obtained for the first time using a new analysis method based on multiparticle cumulants in mixed harmonics. This novel method is robust against systematic biases originating from nonflow effects and by construction any dependence on symmetry planes is eliminated. We demonstrate that correlations of flow harmonics exhibit a better sensitivity to medium properties than the individual flow harmonics. The new measurements are performed in Pb-Pb ...Daha fazlası

Designing a Secure Exam Management System (SEMS) for M-Learning Environments

KAİİALİ, Mustafa | ÖZKAYA, Armağan | ALTUN, Halis | HADDAD, Hatem | ALIER, Marc

M-learning has enhanced the e-learning by making the learning process learner-centered. However, enforcing exam security in open environments where each student has his/her own mobile/tablet device connected to a Wi-Fi network through which it is further connected to the Internet can be one of the most challenging tasks. In such environments, students can easily exchange information over the network during exam time. This paper aims to identify various vulnerabilities that may violate exam security in m-learning environments and to design the appropriate security services and countermeasures t ...Daha fazlası

Coherent ψ(2S) photo-production in ultra-peripheral Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We have performed the first measurement of the coherent ψ(2S) photo-production cross section in ultra- peripheral Pb–Pb collisions at the LHC. This charmonium excited state is reconstructed via the ψ(2S)→ l+l− and ψ(2S)→J/ψπ+π− decays, where the J/ψ decays into two leptons. The analysis is based on an event sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 22 μb−1. The cross section for coherent ψ (2S) production in the rapidity interval −0.9 < y < 0.9 is dσ coh /d y = 0.83 ± 0.19 stat + syst mb. The ψ (2S) ψ (2S) to J/ψ coherent cross section ratio is 0.34+0.08 (stat + sys ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of charm and beauty production at central rapidity versus charged-particle multiplicity in proton-proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Prompt D meson and non-prompt J/ψ yields are studied as a function of the multiplicity of charged particles produced in inelastic proton-proton collisions at a centre- √ of-mass energy of s = 7TeV. The results are reported as a ratio between yields in a given multiplicity interval normalised to the multiplicity-integrated ones (relative yields). They are shown as a function of the multiplicity of charged particles normalised to the average value for inelastic collisions (relative charged-particle multiplicity). D0, D+ and D∗+ mesons are measured in five pT intervals from 1 GeV/c to 20 GeV/c an ...Daha fazlası

Energy dependence and fluctuations of anisotropic flow in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 and 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients with two- and multi-particle cu- mulants for inclusive charged particles in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 and 2.76 TeV are reported in the pseudorapidity range |η| < 0.8 and transverse momentum 0.2 < pT < 50 GeV/c. The full data sample collected by the ALICE detector in 2015 (2010), corre- sponding to an integrated luminosity of 12.7 (2.0) μb−1 in the centrality range 0–80%, is analysed. Flow coefficients up to the sixth flow harmonic (v6) are reported and a de- tailed comparison among results at the two energies is carried out. The pT dependence ...Daha fazlası
