Measuring K0S K± interactions using pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the K0 and K± particles in pp √S collisions at s = 7 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding solely via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength parameters for K0SK− are found to be equal within the experimental uncertainties to those for K0K+. Results of the present study are compared with those S√ from identical-kaon femtoscopic studies also performed with pp collisions at s = 7 TeV by ALICE a ...Daha fazlası

Two- and three-pion quantum statistics correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at √ s N N = 2.76 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Correlations induced by quantum statistics are sensitive to the spatiotemporal extent as well as dynamics of particle-emitting sources in heavy-ion collisions. In addition, such correlations can be used to search for the presence of a coherent component of pion production. Two- and three-pion correlations of same and mixed charge are measured at low relative momentum to estimate the coherent fraction of charged pions in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider with ALICE. The genuine three-pion quantum statistics correlation is found to be suppressed relative to th ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of jet quenching with semi-inclusive hadron-jet distributions in central Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the measurement of a new observable of jet quenching in central Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV, based on the semi-inclusive rate of charged jets recoiling from a high transverse momentum (high-pT) charged hadron trigger. Jets are measured using collinear-safe jet reconstruction with infrared cutoff for jet constituents of 0.15 GeV, for jet resolution parameters R = 0.2, 0.4 and 0.5. Underlying event background is corrected at the event-ensemble level, without imposing bias on the jet population. Recoil jet spectra are reported in the range 20 < pch < 100 GeV. Measurement of charged jet production cross sections and nuclear modification in p–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Charged jet production cross sections in p-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC are presented. Using the anti-k(T) algorithm, jets have been reconstructed in the central rapidity region from charged particles with resolution parameters R = 0.2 and R = 0.4. The reconstructed jets have been corrected for detector effects and the underlying event background. To calculate the nuclear modification factor, R-pPb, of charged jets in p-Pb collisions, a pp reference was constructed by scaling previously measured charged jet spectra at root s = 7 TeV. In the ...Daha fazlası

Event-shape- and multiplicity-dependent identified particle production in pp collisions at 13 TeV with ALICE at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Multiplicity-dependent measurements of identified particle production led to the discovery of collective-like behavior in pp collisions at the LHC. Better understanding of the effects attributed to well-understood physics, like multiple hard scatterings, is required to establish whether this behaviour is truly collective in origin. Experimentally, those effects can be controlled using event shapes, like transverse spherocity, which allows the classification of pp collisions either as jetty or isotropic events. The transverse momentum (p(T)) spectra of light-flavor hadrons in pp collisions meas ...Daha fazlası

ALICE results on system-size dependence of charged-particle multiplicity density in p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Particle production at LHC energies involves the interplay of hard (perturbative) and soft (non-perturbative) QCD processes. Global observables, such as the charged-particle multiplicity, are related to the initial geometry and the energy density produced in the collision. They are important to characterise relativistic heavy-ion collisions and to constrain model calculations. The LHC produced Xenon-Xenon collisions for the first time in October 2017. New results on the primary charged-particle pseudorapidity density, and its pseudorapidity and centrality dependence are presented for this ligh ...Daha fazlası

Testing the system size dependence of hydrodynamical expansion and thermal particle production with π, K, p, and φ in Xe–Xe and Pb–Pb collisions with ALICE

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present new results on transverse momentum spectra, integrated yields, and mean transverse momenta of pions, kaons, and protons, as well as of phi-mesons for various centrality classes measured in Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions at the LHC. This unique set of data allows us to investigate bulk particle production for very different systems at similar multiplicities. The chemical and kinetic freeze-out parameters are extracted via statistical-thermal and combined blast-wave fits to the data in heavy-ion collisions and are compared to results obtained in pp and p-Pb collisions at similar multiplic ...Daha fazlası

Measurements of anisotropic flow and flow fluctuations in Xe–Xe and Pb–Pb collisions with ALICE

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Anisotropic flow is a key observable to characterise the system created in heavy-ion collisions, as it is sensitive to the system's initial state, transport properties, the equation of state and freeze-out conditions. In these proceedings we present the anisotropic flow coefficients of inclusive charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 and 5.02 TeV, and in Xe-Xe collisions at root s(NN) = 5.44 TeV. The results are reported for a wide range of particle transverse momentum within the pseudo-rapidity range vertical bar eta vertical bar < 0.8 at different collision centralities. ...Daha fazlası

Energy and system dependence of nuclear modification factors of inclusive charged particles and identified light hadrons measured in p-Pb, Xe-Xe and Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report recent ALICE results on primary charged particle and neutral meson production in pp, p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions at LHC energies. In this article, measurements of the nuclear modification factors RAA of primary charged particles and of light neutral mesons in Pb-Pb, in Xe-Xe and in p-Pb collisions in a wide p(T) range and different centrality classes are discussed. We compare the nuclear modification factors obtained for different collision systems as a function of transverse momentum, collision centrality as well as charged particle multiplicity (dN(ch)/d eta). We also present ...Daha fazlası

Real-time data processing in the ALICE High Level Trigger at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

At the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, atomic nuclei are collided at ultra-relativistic energies. Many final-state particles are produced in each collision and their properties are measured by the ALICE detector. The detector signals induced by the produced particles are digitized leading to data rates that are in excess of 48 GB/s. The ALICE High Level Trigger (HLT) system pioneered the use of FPGA- and GPU-based algorithms to reconstruct charged-particle trajectories and reduce the data size in real time. The results of the reconstruction of the collision events, availa ...Daha fazlası

Open heavy-flavour production and elliptic flow in p-Pb collisions at the LHC with ALICE

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Measurements of open heavy flavour production in p-A collisions allow the investigation of Cold Nuclear Matter effects. In addition, they are an important tool for a complementary investigation of the long-range correlations found in small systems in the light flavour sector. In this work, production measurements of D mesons at mid-rapidity in p-Pb collisions at root S-NN = 5.02 TeV are reported. Production yields are also reported for the heavy-flavour hadron decay electrons at central rapidity at root(SNN) = 5.02 and 8.16 TeV. The elliptic flow (nu(2)) of heavy-flavour hadron decay electrons ...Daha fazlası

Non-linear flow modes of identified particles in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The pT-differential non-linear flow modes, v4,22, v5,32, v6,33 and v6,222 for π ±, K±, K0 S , p + p, Λ + Λ and φ-meson have been measured for the first time at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV in Pb-Pb collisions with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results were obtained with a multi-particle technique, correlating the identified hadrons with reference charged particles from a different pseudorapidity region. These non-linear observables probe the contribution from the second and third order initial spatial anisotropy coefficients to higher flow harmonics. All the characteristic features ...Daha fazlası
