Measurement of D-meson production at mid-rapidity in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production cross sections for prompt charmed mesons D0 , D+ , D∗+ and D+s were measured at mid-rapidity in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy √s = 7 TeV with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). D mesons were reconstructed from their decays D0 → K−π+, D+ → K−π+π+, D∗+ → D0π+, D+s → φπ+ → K−K+π+, and their charge conju- gates. With respect to previous measurements in the same rapidity region, the coverage in transverse momentum ( pT ) is extended and the uncertainties are reduced by a factor of about two. The accuracy on the estimated total cc produc- tion ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of deuteron spectra and elliptic flow in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The transverse momentum ( pT ) spectra and elliptic flow coefficient (v2) of deuterons and anti-deuterons at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) are measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. The measurement of the pT spectra of (anti-)deuterons is done up to 8 GeV/c in 0–10% centrality class and up to 6 GeV/c in 10–20% and 20–40% centrality classes. The v2 is measured in the 0.8 < pT < 5 GeV/c interval and in six dif- ferent centrality intervals (0–5, 5–10, 10–20, 20–30, 30–40 and 40–50%) using the scalar product technique. Measured π ± , K± and p+p transverse-mo ...Daha fazlası

Aim: The development of calixarene based phenol biosensor. Methods: This study describes the application of a calixarene derivative, 5,17-diamino-25,27-bis(3-thiol-1-oxypropane)-26,28-dihydroxycalix[4]arene (HS-Calix-NH2) which has both amino and thiol functionalities, in the practical surface modifications for biomolecule binding. The structure of HS-Calix-NH2 allows easy inter-action with Au surface and one-step biomolecule immo-bilization. Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of p-amino-functionalized mercaptoalkylcalixarene (HS-Calix-NH2) were formed onto the Au electrode. Then, Laccase (Lac) ...Daha fazlası

Observation of Hot Tearing in Sr-B Modified A356 Alloy

ULUDAĞ, Muhammet | ÇETİN, Remzi | DIŞPINAR, Derya.

In this work, T-shaped mould design was used to generate hot spot and the effect of Sr and B on the hot tearing susceptibility of A356 was investigated. The die temperature was kept at 250°C and the pouring was carried out at 740°C. The amonut of Sr and B additions were 30 and 10 ppm, respectively. One of the most important defects that may exist in cast aluminium is the presence of bifilms. Bifilms can form by the surface turbulence of liquid metal. During such an action, two unbonded surfaces of oxides fold over each other which act as a crack. Therefore, this defect cause many problems in t ...Daha fazlası

Constraining the magnitude of the Chiral Magnetic Effect with Event Shape Engineering in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

In ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions, the event-by-event variation of the fluctuations in the shape of the initial state of the system. This allows to select events with the same centrality but different initial geometry. This selection technique, Event Shape Engineering, has been used in the analysis of charge-dependent two- and three-particle correlations in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. The two-particle correlator ⟨cos(φα − φβ )⟩, calculated for different combinations of charges α and β, is almost independent of v2 (for a given centrality), while the three-particle correlator ⟨c ...Daha fazlası

Determination of the event collision time with the ALICE detector at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Particle identification is an important feature of the ALICE detector at the LHC. In particular, for particle identification via the time-of-flight technique, the precise determination of the event collision time represents an important ingredient of the quality of the measurement. In this paper, the different methods used for such a measurement in ALICE by means of the T0 and the TOF detectors are reviewed. Efficiencies, resolution and the improvement of the particle identification separation power of the methods used are presented for the different LHC colliding systems (pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb) ...Daha fazlası

Thoracoscopic diaphragmatic plication with endostapler

ÖZKAN, Serdar

Diaphragma plication surgery is possibly the most advanced approach in terms of using different techniques. There are a number of plication and suturing methods, which are improved by transthoracic or thoracoscopic methods, and almost all of these techniques are still in use depending on an individual case or the status of diaphragm. We believe that the plication method using thoracoscopic methods and endostapler would be widely adopted as a safe technique. © 2017 All right reserved by the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.

Measuring K0K± interactions using Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76STeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first ever measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the K0 and K± particles. The analysis was performed on the data from Pb–Pb collisions at sNN = 2.76 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength parameters for K0 K− are found to be equal within the experimental uncertainties to those for K0 K+ . Comparing the S S results of the present study with those from published identical-kaon femtoscopic studie ...Daha fazlası

Static analysis of laminated composite beams based on higher-order shear deformation theory by using mixed-type finite element method

ÖZÜTOK, Atilla | MADENCİ, Emrah

In this paper, mixed finite element (MFEM) equations which are based on a functional are obtained by using the Gâteaux differential (GD) for laminated composite beams. Higher-order shear deformation theory (HOBT) including non-linear distribution of shear stress through thickness of laminated beam is presented. Differential field equations of composite beams are derived from virtual displacement principle. These equations were trans- formed into the operator form and using the mathematical advantages of the proposed the variational method, a functional with geometric and dynamic boundary condi ...Daha fazlası

Flow Dominance and Factorization of Transverse Momentum Correlations in Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first measurement of the two-particle transverse momentum differential correlation function, P2 ≡ h∆pT∆pTi/hpTi 2 , in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. Results for P2 are reported as a function of relative pseudorapidity (∆η) and azimuthal angle (∆ϕ) between two particles for different collision centralities. The ∆φ dependence is found to be largely independent of ∆η for |∆η| ≥ 0.9. In 5% most central Pb–Pb collisions, the two-particle transverse momentum correlation function exhibits a clear double-hump structure around ∆ϕ = π (i.e., on the away side), which is not observed ...Daha fazlası
