In this study, a new electrooculography (EOG) based system that provides efficient communication for people suffered from motor neuron diseases is presented. The system consists of two distinct devices. The first device operates as a main unit that is activated by the subject’s eye movements. This unit is capable of transmitting 10 different command/state messages. These messages enable subject to choose his/her situation such as “I’m fine”, “I feel bad”, “I’m hungry” and “I’m thirsty”. Commands such as “Come”, “Go”. The number of messages can be increased. The main unit acquires the EOG signa ...Daha fazlası
Smart home energy scheduling problem is a significant subject in power system to avoid extra expenditure. In this work, the scheduling problem is realized using mixed integer linear (MILP) programming and simulated annealing (SA) method. MILP is one of the integer optimization method and SA is a strong technique for solving hard combinatorial optimization problems. Various types of electricity tariff is applied from country to country. In Turkey, one term and three term tariffs (electricity prices are divided into three parts; off-peak hours, mid-peak hours on-peak hours) are used. In this stu ...Daha fazlası

In this study, a photo-bioelectrochemical fuel cell was constructed for photocurrent generation by illuminating the electrodes within an aqueous solution. In this purpose, gold electrode was coated with poly 4-(4H-Dithieno [3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrol-4-yl) aniline, P(DTP-Ph-NH2) conductive polymer fi lm by using electrochemical polymerization. Then, P(DTP-Ph-NH2) conductive polymer fi lm coated surface was electrochemically modi fi ed with cytochrome C which covalently linked onto the surface via bis-aniline functionality of the polymer fi lm and formed crosslinked-structure. The thylakoid membrane was a ...Daha fazlası

Hyperhidrosis (HH) is a pathological condition of excessive secretion of the eccrine sweat glands in amounts greater than that required for physiological needs. Herein, we describe a patient who was treated with autologous blood pleurodesis for ductus thoracicus injury after endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy. A 23-year-old woman was admitted to our clinic with a complaint of bilateral pronounced axillary HH, minimal sweating of the hands, and bruising. She underwent bilateral thoracic sympathectomy at levels T3 and T4. A milky fluid was observed in the left chest tube and was diagnosed as chyl ...Daha fazlası
In this study, an amperometric cholesterol biosensor was constructed based on cholesterol oxidase immobilized on a conducting 4-(4H-dithienol[3,2-b:2’,3’d]pyrrole-4)aniline polymer, (DTP(aryl)aniline). Glassy carbon electrodes were covered with P(DTP(aryl)aniline) which is used for the wiring of enzyme to the electrode surface by using electro-polymerization. The electron transfer was successfully made by the bio-catalytic activity and possession of the unique morphology of the polymer allowed efficient immobilization of the cholesterol oxidase enzyme. Analytical performances, linear range, de ...Daha fazlası
Abstract BACKGROUND: Recent reports have described inherent problems with androgen immunoassays compared with mass spectrometry analyses. In this study, a new liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed according to CLSI rules. The developed method was compared with two immunoassay methods, the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and radioimmunoassay (RIA). METHODS: After liquid-liquid extraction, a Shimadzu Prominence LC unit coupled to an ABSCIEX API 3200 mass spectrometer with atmospheric pressure chemical ionization was used to quantify serum andros ...Daha fazlası

The effect of melt quality on hot tearing susceptibility of Al8Si3Cu alloy was examined under six different conditions, by using a traditional T-shaped mold. Grain refinement was carried out by two different modifiers: AlTi5B1 and Al3B. For each test, samples were cast before and after degassing of melt. Therefore, a new hot tearing tendency index was developed by both bifilm calculations and porosity that occurred in the middle of T-zone of casting parts. Results indicated that hot tearing of cast aluminum alloys was a complex phenomenon, and bifilms play a major role, especially by compensat ...Daha fazlası
The pT-differential production cross section of prompt Λ+c charmed baryons was measured with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV and in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV at midrapidity. The Λ+c and Λ–c were reconstructed in the hadronic decay modes Λ+c → pK−π+, Λ+c → pK0S and in the semileptonic channel Λ+c → e+νeΛ (and charge conjugates). The measured values of the Λ+c /D0 ratio, which is sensitive to the c-quark hadronisation mechanism, and in particular to the production of baryons, are presented and are larger than those measured previously ...Daha fazlası
In most of the practical casting operations, it is important to be able to cast large number of part with one single melt. Therefore, when quantity of the charge and melting crucible is increased, during casting process, the liquid is led to settle for a long period of time. In this work, 10 kg charge of A356 was melted at 750 °C and held for 240 min. A sand mold with different thickness was cast at 30, 60, 120, and 240 min of holding time of the liquid, before and after degassing conditions. Melt quality was measured by reduced pressure test, and pore size and number were measured at each cas ...Daha fazlası
The question that which type of writing tasks learners exhibit their skills and improve their language proficiency receives different answers. Whether a language task, which requires attention, memory, reasoning, with low and high levels of syntactic complexity is likely to affect text quality, accuracy, grammar and vocabulary range is debated. The view that higher syntactic complexity for a task is likely to have learners produce more errors (Skehan & Foster, 2001) competes with the view that it will result in better, less flawed writing output (Robinson, 2001). To test the claims of the two ...Daha fazlası
The production of Z0 bosons at large rapidities in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV is reported. Z0 candidates are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel (Z0 → μ+ μ−), based on muons selected with pseudo-rapidity −4.0 < η < −2.5 and pT > 20 GeV/c. The invariant yield and the nuclear modification factor, RAA, are presented as a function of rapidity and collision centrality. The value of RAA for the 0–20% central Pb–Pb collisions is 0.67 ± 0.11 (stat.) ± 0.03 (syst.) ± 0.06 (corr. syst.), exhibiting a deviation of 2.6σ from unity. The results are well-described by calculations that include ...Daha fazlası
We present a measurement of azimuthal correlations between inclusive J/ψ and charged hadrons in p-Pb collisions recorded with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The J/ψ are reconstructed at forward (p-going, 2.03 < y < 3.53) and backward (Pb-going, −4.46 < y < −2.96) rapidity via their μ+μ− decay channel, while the charged hadrons are reconstructed at mid-rapidity (|η| < 1.8). The correlations are expressed in terms of associated charged-hadron yields per J/ψ trigger. A rapidity gap of at least 1.5 units is required between the trigger J/ψ and the associated charged hadrons. Possible correlat ...Daha fazlası
