Hydrological Time Series Forecasting Using Three Different Heuristic Regression Techniques

KİŞİ, Özgür | SHIRI, Jalal | DEMİR, Vahdettin

The ability of three different heuristic regression methods, least-square support vector regression (LSSVR), multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS), and M5 model tree (M5Tree), was investigated in forecasting hydrological time series. In the study, daily streamflow data from two stations in Turkey were used by employing cross validation method. Models were compared with each other with respect to root-mean-square error, mean absolute error and determination coefficient. The LSSVR was found to be superior to the MARS and M5Tree models in daily streamflow forecasting. The effect of perio ...Daha fazlası

Using internet: A mechanism to develop market share

MOSTAVAFI SHIRAZI, Seyedeh Fatemeh

This chapter presents the subject area of the Internet as an international form of media and examines related issues. It begins by considering the Internet as a source of information in various forms of social network sites that enables any individual to post their experiences, opinions and evaluations of tourism destination. This provides a summary of the existing state of knowledge concerning to social network sites and word of mouth (WMO) recommendation. In addition, it serves to clarify the associated word of mouth and market share development. This chapter presents the subject area of the ...Daha fazlası

Risk management in lean & green supply chain: A novel fuzzy linguistic risk assessment approach

PAKSOY, Turan | ÇALIK, Ahmet | YILDIZBAŞI, Abdullah | HUBER, Sandra

In today’s world, the pressure of competition considerably changed because of the increasing pressure of market competition, changes in customer expectations due to global warming and the globalization of the economy. Growing pressures in supply chain activities urge to companies to adopt new approaches by reducing waste and planning environmental friendly processes, such as recycling, reuse, and remanufacturing. There have been several studies proposed that lean activities can help make the case for environmental impact reduction to companies. Thus, most companies have reorganized their suppl ...Daha fazlası

Lean and Green Supplier Selection Problem: A Novel Multi Objective Linear Programming Model for an Electronics Board Manufacturing Company in Turkey

ÇALIK, Ahmet | PAKSOY, Turan | HUBER, Sandra

Even though various studies are proposed to evaluate and determine the best suppliers, studies generally consider similar factors such as cost, quality, delivery time etc. in the supplier selection problem. Nowadays, some lean and green issues such as on time (JIT) delivery, waste reduction, avoidance and treatment of hazardous materials, energy efficiency, occupational health and safety, corporate social responsibility, etc. started to be addressed together with the supplier selection process. Lean and Green Supply Chain Management (L-GSCM) is a dynamic field for companies to gain advantages ...Daha fazlası

A New Model for Lean and Green Closed-Loop Supply Chain Optimization

PAKSOY, Turan | ÇALIK, Ahmet | KUMPF, Alexander | WEBER, Gerhard Wilhelm

The dynamics of Supply Chain Management (SCM) have changed over the years; new paradigms are added into the SCM as a response to changes related with increasing environmental concerns and pressures. Therefore, lean and green practices in a company belong to its most important factors to enhance the company’s performance. In this study a new model, inspired by an automotive supply chain, is proposed for lean and green closed-loop supply chain management. In this model, we deal with lean and green drivers to set the objectives of the decision makers (DMs) as follows; (1) Construction: The amount ...Daha fazlası

Evaluation of the development plans between the years 1963 and 2018 in Turkey

AKIN, Elmas

Planning, which means to determine the way in advance, has occured throughout history. The planning process, which includes elements such as determining current sources and evaluating options, is also important because of decreasing inequities and correcting imbalances. After World War II, planning was set as one of the development method. After experiences of economical plans, in 1961, the State Planning Organization (SPO) was founded and made planning more formal in Turkey. Development plans, which have continued with the Development Ministry that was founded in 2011, are important documents ...Daha fazlası

Allied closed-loop supply chain network optimization with interactive fuzzy programming approach

ÇALIK, Ahmet | PEHLİVAN, Nimet Yapıcı | PAKSOY, Turan | KARAOĞLAN, İsmail

The concept of closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) has started to attract growing attention due to the consumer pressures, environmental awareness, and legislations. Managers in many companies have realized that a well-designed supply chain (SC) can improve the companies’ performance in the market. Thus, a lot of companies start to focus on CLSC issues including remanufacturing, refurbishing, recycling, and disposal of end-of-life products. The body of literature on CLSC management has been overwhelmingly dominated by noncooperative studies. In order to fill up this gap in the literature, we deal ...Daha fazlası

Comparison of methods in FAHP with application in supplier selection

YAPICI PEHLİVAN, Nimet | PAKSOY, Turan | ÇALIK, Ahmet

Green supply chain management (GSCM) is described as the combination of environmental thinking and supply chain management (SCM) encompassing product design, material sourcing and selection, manufacturing processes, delivery of the nal product to the consumer, and endof-life management of the product (Srivastava, 2007; Tseng and Chiu, 2013). Environmental sustainability of a supply chain depends on the purchasing strategy of the supply chain members. Most of the supply chain models focus on cost, quality, lead time, carbon emission, etc., issues for supplier selection. Shaw et al. (2012) prese ...Daha fazlası

Enzyme‐Based Biosensors in Food Industry via Surface Modifications (Chapter 7)

GAZEL, Nilay | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir

Enzyme technology has received great attention with improvements in biological remediation techniques. Enzyme-based biosensors can qualify as a measuring system as they permit the detection of biological events by detecting biochemical changes in biological processes. Advantages of biosensors are identification of even small quantities, cost effectiveness, and requirement of less power and less volume for identifying a wide linear range for usage [1]. Moreover, biosensors have high sensitivity, selectivity, and good response time for different kinds of applications.
