Effect of 3’-4’-dihydroxyflavonol on lipid per oxidation inexperimental renal ischemia-reperfusion in rats

KOÇ, Aynur | ERGENE, Neyhan | BALTACI, Abdülkerim Kasım | MOĞULKOÇ, Rasim

This study aimed to examine the affects of 3’-4’-dihydroxyflavonol (DiOHF) on lipid peroxidation in experimental renal ischemia-reperfusion. The research was conducted on Wistar-albino type male rat. The experimental groups were formed as 1.Control; 2.Sham; 3.Ischemia; 4.Ischemia+reperfusion; 5.DiOHF+Ischemia; 6.Ischemia+ DiOHF + reperfusion. The highest tissue glutathione levels were found in groups 5 and 6. Groups 1 and 2, which were control and sham groups respectively, had the lowest tissue GSH values. Ischemia group was found to have the highest tissue malondialdehyde (MDA) level. Tissue ...Daha fazlası

Relationship between generalized epileptic seizure and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, platelet/lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil mediated inflammation.

GÜNEŞ, Muzaffer | BÜYÜKGÖL, Hüseyin

Aim: There is a close relationship between systemic inflammation and epileptic seizure. Recently, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been defined as significant inflammation biomarkers. In the present study, it was aimed to determine levels of NLR, PLR, and mean platelet volume (MPV) during generalized tonic clonic epileptic seizures, and to investigate their relationships with epileptic seizures. Methods: The present study was conducted on 72 patients with epilepsy who applied with primary and secondary generalized tonic clonic epileptic seizures accordi ...Daha fazlası

A Realistic View on

BAHADORI, Fatemeh | DEMİRAY, Mutlu

The review paper entitled “The Essential Medicinal Chemistry of Curcumin”, published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, by Nelson et al. (1) is a well-designed paper, presenting a new (and negative) approach to the well-known biologically active compound; curcumin. Although some arguments throughout this paper are completely true, the approach of the authors is unfortunately far from impartial, and many of the conclusions the authors draw from some of their referred papers are especially hard to accept.

CÜCE, Gökhan | ÇETİNKAYA, Seda | İŞİTEZ, Nilay | KÜÇÇÜKTÜRK, Serkan | SÖZEN, Mehmet Enes | DEMİREL, Hasan Hüseyin | KALKAN, Sinan | CİĞERCİ, İbrahim Hakkı

Methylmethane sulfonate (MMS) is an alkylating agent that may react with DNA and damage it. We investigated histological changes and apoptosis caused by MMS and the effects of curcumin on MMS treated mouse kidneys. Twenty-four mice were divided into four equal groups: controls injected with saline, a group injected with 40 mg/kg MMS, a group injected with 40 mg/kg MMS and given 100 mg/kg curcumin by gavage, and a group given 100 mg/kg curcumin by gavage. MMS caused congestion and vacuole formation, and elevated the apoptotic index significantly, but had no other effect on kidney tissue. Curcum ...Daha fazlası

In vitro anti-candidal and anti-biofilm activity of new ethane sulfonyl hydrazone compound

ÖZTÜRK, Ali | AYDIN, Merve | ÖZDEMİR ÖZMEN, Ümmühan

Candida species cause cutaneous and systemic infections with a high mortality rate, especially in immunocompromised patients. However, the emergence of resistance to the most common antifungal drugs, also due to biofilm formation, there is an increasing need to design new and more effective antifungals with less toxic. Sulfonyl hydrazones are well-known for their pharmacological effects, such as antifungal and antibacterial potential and can act as an antinociceptive, antidepressant, antineoplastic activity. The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-candidal and anti-biofilm activity o ...Daha fazlası
