K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) meson production at high transverse momentum in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) mesons in proton-proton (pp) and lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV has been analyzed using a high luminosity data sample accumulated in 2011 with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Transverse momentum (pT) spectra have been measured for K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) mesons via their hadronic decay channels for pT up to 20 GeV/c. The measurements in pp collisions have been compared to model calculations and used to determine the nuclear modification factor and particle ratios. The K∗(892)0/K ratio exhibits significant reduction fro ...Daha fazlası

K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) production in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The yields of the K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) resonances are measured in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV through their hadronic decays using the ALICE detector. The measurements are performed in multiple centrality intervals at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) in the transverse-momentum ranges 0.3 < pT < 5 GeV/c for the K∗(892)0 and 0.5 < pT < 5 GeV/c for the φ(1020). The yields of K∗(892)0 are suppressed in central Pb-Pb collisions with respect to pp and peripheral Pb-Pb collisions (perhaps due to rescattering of its decay products in the hadronic medium), while the longer-lived φ(1020) meson is not sup ...Daha fazlası

Production of K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of K∗(892)0 and φ(1020) mesons has been measured in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. K∗0 and φ are reconstructed via their decay into charged hadrons with the ALICE detector in the rapidity range −0.5 < y < 0. The transverse momentum spectra, mea- sured as a function of the multiplicity, have a pT range from 0 to 15 GeV/c for K∗0 and from 0.3 to 21 GeV/c for φ. Inte- grated yields, mean transverse momenta and particle ratios are reported and compared with results in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV and Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. In Pb–Pb and p–Pb collisions, K∗0 and φ pr ...Daha fazlası

Exploring the Phase Space of Jet Splittings at ALICE using Grooming and Recursive Techniques

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Hard splittings in the evolution of a hard scattered parton may be modified by the presence of a dense strongly interacting medium. Grooming procedures can be used to isolate such hard components of a jet and allows one to focus on the two subjets resulting from a sufficiently hard partonic splitting. Measurements of the symmetry parameter (z(g)), angular separation (R-g) and number of splittings (n(SD)) of Soft Drop groomed jets are reported as measured with the ALICE Detector in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at root s = 7 TeV and root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV, respectively. The use of recursive splittings ...Daha fazlası

Kaon femtoscopy in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the results of three-dimensional femtoscopic analyses for charged and neutral kaons recorded by ALICEinPb-Pbcollisionsat√sNN =2.76TeV.Femtoscopyisusedtomeasurethespace-timecharacteristicsof particle production from the effects of quantum statistics and final-state interactions in two-particle correlations. Kaon femtoscopy is an important supplement to that of pions because it allows one to distinguish between different model scenarios working equally well for pions. In particular, we compare the measured three-dimensional kaon radii with a purely hydrodynamical calculation and a mod ...Daha fazlası

Study of cosmic ray events with high muon multiplicity using the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

ALICE is one of four large experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider near Geneva, specially designed to study particle production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion colli- sions. Located 52 meters underground with 28 meters of overburden rock, it has also been used to detect muons produced by cosmic ray interactions in the upper atmosphere. In this paper, we present the multiplicity distribution of these atmospheric muons and its compari- son with Monte Carlo simulations. This analysis exploits the large size and excellent tracking capability of the ALICE Time Projection Chamber. A special em ...Daha fazlası

Study of the Λ–Λ interaction with femtoscopy correlations in and p–Pb collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This work presents new constraints on the existence and the binding energy of a possible Λ-Λ bound state, the H-dibaryon, derived from Λ-Λ femtoscopic measurements by the ALICE collaboration. The results are obtained from a new measurement using the femtoscopy technique in pp collisions at s√=13 TeV and p-Pb collisions at sNN‾‾‾‾√=5.02 TeV, combined with previously published results from p-Pb collisions at s√=7 TeV. The Λ-Λ scattering parameter space, spanned by the inverse scattering length f−10 and the effective range d0, is constrained by comparing the measured Λ-Λ correlation function with ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of quarkonium production at forward rapidity in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Abstract The inclusive production cross sections at for- ward rapidity of J/ψ , ψ (2S), Υ (1S) and Υ (2S) are measured in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The analysis is based on a data sample corre- sponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.35 pb−1. Quarko- nia are reconstructed in the dimuon-decay channel and the signal yields are evaluated by fitting the μ+μ− invariant mass distributions. The differential production cross sections are measured as a function of the transverse momentum pT and rapidity y, over the ranges 0 < pT < 20 GeV/c for J/ψ, 0 < pT < 12 Ge ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of charged jet cross section in pp collisions at 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The cross section of jets reconstructed from charged particles is measured in the transverse momentum range of 5 < pT < 100 GeV=c in pp collisions at the center-of-mass energy of s 1⁄4 5.02 TeV with theALICE detector. The jets are reconstructed using the anti-kT algorithm with resolution parameters R 1⁄4 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.6 in the pseudorapidity range jηj < 0.9 − R. The charged jet cross sections are compared with the leading-order (LO) and to next-to-leading-order (NLO) perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) calculations. It is found that the NLO calculations agree better with the meas ...Daha fazlası

Beauty production in pp collisions at √s = 2.76 TeV measured via semi-electronic decays

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The ALICE Collaboration at the LHC reports measurement of the inclusive production cross section of electrons from semi-leptonic decays of beauty hadrons with rapidity |y| < 0.8 and transverse momentum 1 < pT < 10 GeV/c, in pp collisions at √ s = 2.76 TeV. Electrons not originating from semi-electronic decay of beauty hadrons are suppressed using the impact parameter of the corresponding tracks. The production cross section of beauty decay electrons is compared to the result obtained with an alternative method which uses the distribution of the azimuthal angle between heavy-flavour decay elect ...Daha fazlası
