The Energy Cost Comparison Using Mixed Integer Linear Programming and Simulated Annealing Method in Smart Home

GÜLER, Emre | BAŞARAN FİLİK, Ümmühan

Smart home energy scheduling problem is a significant subject in power system to avoid extra expenditure. In this work, the scheduling problem is realized using mixed integer linear (MILP) programming and simulated annealing (SA) method. MILP is one of the integer optimization method and SA is a strong technique for solving hard combinatorial optimization problems. Various types of electricity tariff is applied from country to country. In Turkey, one term and three term tariffs (electricity prices are divided into three parts; off-peak hours, mid-peak hours on-peak hours) are used. In this stu ...Daha fazlası

Can we predict patients that will not benefit from invasive mechanical ventilation? A novel scoring system in intensive care: The imv mortality prediction score (IMPRES)

ÖZLÜ, Tevfik | PEHLİVANLAR KÜÇÜK, Mehtap | KAYA, Akın | YARAR, Esra | KIRAKLI, Sami Cenk | ŞENGÖREN DİKİŞ, Özlem | KEFELİ ÇELİK, Hale | ÖZKAN, Serdar | BEKTAŞ AKSOY, Hayriye | KÜÇÜK, Ahmet Oğuzhan

Background/aim: The present study aimed to define the clinical and laboratory criteria for predicting patients that will not benefit from invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) treatment and determine the prediction of mortality and prognosis of these critical ill patients. Materials and methods: The study was designed as an observational, multicenter, prospective, and cross-sectional clinical study. It was conducted by 75 researchers at 41 centers in intensive care units (ICUs) located in various geographical areas of Turkey. It included a total of 1463 ICU patients who were receiving invasive ...Daha fazlası

Construction of conducting polymer/cytochrome C/thylakoid membrane based photo-bioelectrochemical fuel cells generating high photocurrent via photosynthesis

ÇEVİK, Emre | ÇARBAŞ, Buket | ŞENEL, Mehmet | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir

In this study, a photo-bioelectrochemical fuel cell was constructed for photocurrent generation by illuminating the electrodes within an aqueous solution. In this purpose, gold electrode was coated with poly 4-(4H-Dithieno [3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrol-4-yl) aniline, P(DTP-Ph-NH2) conductive polymer fi lm by using electrochemical polymerization. Then, P(DTP-Ph-NH2) conductive polymer fi lm coated surface was electrochemically modi fi ed with cytochrome C which covalently linked onto the surface via bis-aniline functionality of the polymer fi lm and formed crosslinked-structure. The thylakoid membrane was a ...Daha fazlası

Photo-electrochemical communication between cyanobacteria (Leptolyngbia sp.) and osmium redox polymer modified electrodes

KAMRUL, Hasan | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir | SPERLING, Eva | CONGHAILE, Peter Ó | PACKER, Michael A | DÓNAL, Leech | HÄGERHÄLL , Cecilia | GORTON, Lo

Photosynthetic microbial fuel cells (PMFCs) are an emerging technology for renewable solar energy conversion. Major efforts have been made to explore the electrogenic activity of cyanobacteria, mostly using practically unsustainable reagents. Here we report on photocurrent generation (≈8.64 µA cm-2) from cyanobacteria immobilized on electrodes modified with an efficient electron mediator, an Os2+/3+ redox polymer. Upon addition of ferricyanide to the electrolyte, cyanobacteria generate the maximum current density of ≈48.2 µA cm-2. © the Partner Organisations 2014.

Construction of efficient bioelectrochemical devices: Improved electricity production from cyanobacteria (Leptolyngbia sp.) based on π‐conjugated conducting polymer/gold nanoparticle composite interfaces

ÇEVİK, Emre | BÜYÜKHARMAN, Mustafa | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir

In this study, gold electrodes (GE) were coated with conducting polymers to obtain a high photocurrent using cyanobacteria from a novel bioelectrochemical fuel cell. For this purpose, 4‐(4H‐ditiheno[3,2‐b:2',3'‐d]pyrol‐4‐yl) aniline and 5‐(4H‐dithieno[3,2‐b:2',3'‐d]pyrol‐4‐yl) napthtalane‐1‐amine monomers were coated on GE by performing an electropolymerization process. After that, gold nanoparticles (AuNP) were specifically modified by 2‐mercaptoethane sulfonic acid and p‐aminothiophenol to attach to the electrode surface. The conducting polymers GE coat was modified with functionalized AuNP ...Daha fazlası

Energy dependence of φ(1020) production at mid-rapidity in pp collisions with ALICE at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Hadronic resonances are unique tools to investigate the interplay of re-scattering and regeneration effects during the hadronization phase in heavy-ion collisions. Measurements in small collision systems provide a necessary baseline for heavy-ion data, help to tune pQCD inspired event generators and give insight into the search for the onset of collective effects. As the phi meson has a longer lifetime compared to other resonances, it is expected that its production would be much less affected by regeneration and re-scattering processes. We report on measurements of phi meson production in min ...Daha fazlası

Measurements of heavy-flavour correlations and jets with ALICE at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

In this work, the latest heavy-flavour correlation and jet measurements at mid-rapidity with the ALICE detector in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions from the LHC Run 2 are reported. In particular, the results of azimuthal correlation measurements of D mesons with charged particles in pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV and in p-Pb collisions at root S-NN = 5.02 TeV are presented. Studies on the centrality-dependent azimuthal correlations of heavy-flavour hadron decay electrons with charged particles in Pb Pb collisions at root S-NN = 5.02 TeV are shown. In addition, measurements of D-meson tagged jet ...Daha fazlası

Heavy-flavour hadron decay leptons in Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions at the LHC with ALICE

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Heavy quarks, i.e. charm and beauty, are sensitive probes of the medium produced in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. They are produced in the early stage of the collision, mainly in hard partonic scattering processes, and are expected to experience the whole collision evolution interacting with the medium constituents via both elastic and inelastic processes. The nuclear modification factor (R-AA) is one of the main experimental observables that allow us to investigate the interaction strength of heavy quarks with the medium. The ALICE collaboration measured the production of open heavy-flavo ...Daha fazlası

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The transverse momentum distributions of the strange and double-strange hyperon resonances ( Sigma ( 1385)(+/-), Xi ( 1530)(0)) produced in p-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV were measured in the rapidity range -0.5 < yCMS < 0 for event classes corresponding to different charged-particle multiplicity densities, < dN(ch)/d eta(lab)> . The mean transverse momentumvalues are presented as a function of < dNch/d eta(lab)>, as well as a function of the particle masses and compared with previous results on hyperon production. The integrated yield ratios of excited to ground- state hyperons are ...Daha fazlası
