Measuring K0S K± interactions using pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We present the first measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the K0 and K± particles in pp √S collisions at s = 7 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding solely via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength parameters for K0SK− are found to be equal within the experimental uncertainties to those for K0K+. Results of the present study are compared with those S√ from identical-kaon femtoscopic studies also performed with pp collisions at s = 7 TeV by ALICE a ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of electrons from semileptonic heavy-flavor hadron decays in p p collisions at √ s = 2.76     TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The pT-differential production cross section of electrons from semileptonic decays of heavy-flavor hadrons has been measured at midrapidity in proton-proton collisions at s 1⁄4 2.76 TeV in the transverse momentum range 0.5 < pT < 12 GeV=c with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The analysis was performed using minimum bias events and events triggered by the electromagnetic calorimeter. Predictions from perturbative QCD calculations agree with the data within the theoretical and experimental uncertainties.

Measurement of pion, kaon and proton production in proton–proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The measurement of primary π ± , K ± , p and p production at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) in proton–proton col- lisions at √s = 7 TeV performed with a large ion collider experiment at the large hadron collider (LHC) is reported. Particle identification is performed using the specific ioni- sation energy-loss and time-of-flight information, the ring- imaging Cherenkov technique and the kink-topology identifi- cation of weak decays of charged kaons. Transverse momen- tum spectra are measured from 0.1 up to 3 GeV/c for pions, from 0.2 up to 6 GeV/c for kaons and from 0.3 up to 6 GeV/c for protons. Th ...Daha fazlası

Two- and three-pion quantum statistics correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at √ s N N = 2.76 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Correlations induced by quantum statistics are sensitive to the spatiotemporal extent as well as dynamics of particle-emitting sources in heavy-ion collisions. In addition, such correlations can be used to search for the presence of a coherent component of pion production. Two- and three-pion correlations of same and mixed charge are measured at low relative momentum to estimate the coherent fraction of charged pions in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider with ALICE. The genuine three-pion quantum statistics correlation is found to be suppressed relative to th ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of jet quenching with semi-inclusive hadron-jet distributions in central Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

We report the measurement of a new observable of jet quenching in central Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV, based on the semi-inclusive rate of charged jets recoiling from a high transverse momentum (high-pT) charged hadron trigger. Jets are measured using collinear-safe jet reconstruction with infrared cutoff for jet constituents of 0.15 GeV, for jet resolution parameters R = 0.2, 0.4 and 0.5. Underlying event background is corrected at the event-ensemble level, without imposing bias on the jet population. Recoil jet spectra are reported in the range 20 < pch < 100 GeV. Construction of conducting polymer/cytochrome C/thylakoid membrane based photo-bioelectrochemical fuel cells generating high photocurrent via photosynthesis

ÇEVİK, Emre | ÇARBAŞ, Buket | ŞENEL, Mehmet | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir

In this study, a photo-bioelectrochemical fuel cell was constructed for photocurrent generation by illuminating the electrodes within an aqueous solution. In this purpose, gold electrode was coated with poly 4-(4H-Dithieno [3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrol-4-yl) aniline, P(DTP-Ph-NH2) conductive polymer fi lm by using electrochemical polymerization. Then, P(DTP-Ph-NH2) conductive polymer fi lm coated surface was electrochemically modi fi ed with cytochrome C which covalently linked onto the surface via bis-aniline functionality of the polymer fi lm and formed crosslinked-structure. The thylakoid membrane was a ...Daha fazlası

Photo-electrochemical communication between cyanobacteria (Leptolyngbia sp.) and osmium redox polymer modified electrodes

KAMRUL, Hasan | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir | SPERLING, Eva | CONGHAILE, Peter Ó | PACKER, Michael A | DÓNAL, Leech | HÄGERHÄLL , Cecilia | GORTON, Lo

Photosynthetic microbial fuel cells (PMFCs) are an emerging technology for renewable solar energy conversion. Major efforts have been made to explore the electrogenic activity of cyanobacteria, mostly using practically unsustainable reagents. Here we report on photocurrent generation (≈8.64 µA cm-2) from cyanobacteria immobilized on electrodes modified with an efficient electron mediator, an Os2+/3+ redox polymer. Upon addition of ferricyanide to the electrolyte, cyanobacteria generate the maximum current density of ≈48.2 µA cm-2. © the Partner Organisations 2014.

Construction of efficient bioelectrochemical devices: Improved electricity production from cyanobacteria (Leptolyngbia sp.) based on π‐conjugated conducting polymer/gold nanoparticle composite interfaces

ÇEVİK, Emre | BÜYÜKHARMAN, Mustafa | YILDIZ, Hüseyin Bekir

In this study, gold electrodes (GE) were coated with conducting polymers to obtain a high photocurrent using cyanobacteria from a novel bioelectrochemical fuel cell. For this purpose, 4‐(4H‐ditiheno[3,2‐b:2',3'‐d]pyrol‐4‐yl) aniline and 5‐(4H‐dithieno[3,2‐b:2',3'‐d]pyrol‐4‐yl) napthtalane‐1‐amine monomers were coated on GE by performing an electropolymerization process. After that, gold nanoparticles (AuNP) were specifically modified by 2‐mercaptoethane sulfonic acid and p‐aminothiophenol to attach to the electrode surface. The conducting polymers GE coat was modified with functionalized AuNP ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of charged jet production cross sections and nuclear modification in p–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Charged jet production cross sections in p-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC are presented. Using the anti-k(T) algorithm, jets have been reconstructed in the central rapidity region from charged particles with resolution parameters R = 0.2 and R = 0.4. The reconstructed jets have been corrected for detector effects and the underlying event background. To calculate the nuclear modification factor, R-pPb, of charged jets in p-Pb collisions, a pp reference was constructed by scaling previously measured charged jet spectra at root s = 7 TeV. Event-shape- and multiplicity-dependent identified particle production in pp collisions at 13 TeV with ALICE at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Multiplicity-dependent measurements of identified particle production led to the discovery of collective-like behavior in pp collisions at the LHC. Better understanding of the effects attributed to well-understood physics, like multiple hard scatterings, is required to establish whether this behaviour is truly collective in origin. Experimentally, those effects can be controlled using event shapes, like transverse spherocity, which allows the classification of pp collisions either as jetty or isotropic events. The transverse momentum (p(T)) spectra of light-flavor hadrons in pp collisions meas ...Daha fazlası

ALICE results on system-size dependence of charged-particle multiplicity density in p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

Particle production at LHC energies involves the interplay of hard (perturbative) and soft (non-perturbative) QCD processes. Global observables, such as the charged-particle multiplicity, are related to the initial geometry and the energy density produced in the collision. They are important to characterise relativistic heavy-ion collisions and to constrain model calculations. The LHC produced Xenon-Xenon collisions for the first time in October 2017. New results on the primary charged-particle pseudorapidity density, and its pseudorapidity and centrality dependence are presented for this ligh ...Daha fazlası
