The Effect of Hypnosis on Systolic Blood Pressure

SUNAR, Füsun | SOLAK GÖRMÜŞ, Zülfikare Işık

Hypnosis is frequently used in numerous fields of complementary medical treatments. Blood pressure is an important vital sign. The changes manifest itself with hypo/ hypertension. Hypertension is a common and important health problem in society. Our aim is to evaluate the effect of hypnosis on blood pressure in healthy volunteers and to make a preliminary study for treatment of hypertensive patients. Healthy twelve volunteers, six women and six men, aged between 18 - 65 years were included after getting ethical permits and consent. The room selected for hypnosis was quiet and room temperature ...Daha fazlası

Dielectron measurements in pp and Pb-Pb colllisions with ALICE at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The production of low-mass dielectrons is one of the most promising tools for the investigation of chiral symmetry restoration and thermal radiation from the QGP created in heavy-ion collisions. To single out the signal characteristics of the QGP, it is crucial to understand the primordial e+e− pair production in vacuum, i.e. in inelastic proton-proton (pp) collisions. Low-mass dielectrons have been measured with ALICE at the LHC in pp collisions at √s = 7 and 13 TeV, and in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. An overview of the results on dielectron production is presented, together with the ...Daha fazlası

Measurement of jet radial profiles in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN = 2.76 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The jet radial structure and particle transverse momentum (pT) composition within jets are presented in centrality-selected Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV. Track-based jets, which are also called charged jets, were reconstructed with a resolution parameter of R = 0.3 at midrapidity |ηch jet| < 0.6 for transverse momenta pT, ch jet = 30–120 GeV/c. Jet–hadron correlations in relative azimuth and pseudorapidity space (φ,η) are measured to study the distribution of the associated particles around the jet axis for different pT,assoc-ranges between 1 and 20 GeV/c. The data in Pb–Pb collisions a ...Daha fazlası

Coherent J/ψ photo production at forward rapidity in ultra-peripheral Pb–Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

The ALICE collaboration performed the first rapidity-differential measurement of coherent J/ψ photoproduction in ultra-peripheral Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy sNN‾‾‾‾√ = 5.02 TeV. The J/ψ is detected via its dimuon decay in the forward rapidity region (−4.0

Study of the Λ–Λ interaction with femtoscopy correlations in and p–Pb collisions at the LHC

KARASU UYSAL, Ayben | ALICE Collaboration

This work presents new constraints on the existence and the binding energy of a possible Λ-Λ bound state, the H-dibaryon, derived from Λ-Λ femtoscopic measurements by the ALICE collaboration. The results are obtained from a new measurement using the femtoscopy technique in pp collisions at s√=13 TeV and p-Pb collisions at sNN‾‾‾‾√=5.02 TeV, combined with previously published results from p-Pb collisions at s√=7 TeV. The Λ-Λ scattering parameter space, spanned by the inverse scattering length f−10 and the effective range d0, is constrained by comparing the measured Λ-Λ correlation function with ...Daha fazlası

Age-dependent evaluation of long-term depression responses in hyperthyroid rats: Possible roles of oxidative intracellular redox status

TAN, Burak | BABUR, Ercan | KOŞAR, Bilal | VAROL, Salih | DURSUN, Nurcan | SÜER, Cem

Background According to the free radical theory, a gradual accumulation of the free radicals normally produced in the body underlies the changes associated with aging. Thyroid hormones (THs) are related to oxidative stress not only due to their stimulation of metabolism but also due to their effects on antioxidant mechanisms. Thyroid dysfunction increases with age; thus, changes in TH levels in elderly individuals could be a factor affecting the development of neurodegenerative diseases. However, the relationship is not always clear, based on current evidence regarding synaptic plasticity. Met ...Daha fazlası
